Successful Homecoming For Cody Jones
Posted: Dec 21st 2009 By: CMBurnham
Cody Jones returned to MSWA on December 13 and brought with him some success. He also brought arrogance, pomposity and an attitude that makes his father Tom Jones embarassed to be around him.
Jones currently makes his residence in Amarillo, TX and is 1/2 of the NWA-SW Texas Tag Team Champions. But fans know that sometime prior to his moving away, Cody turned his back on the fans and came to believe that he only needed to rely on himself. Being a second generation star was something he believed made him better than everyone else and he took that attitude as far as he could.
In November, Jones arrived with his girlfriend and valet Star. They ended up in a mixed tag team match against La Reina de Corazones & Rick Russo and that match ended with the dastardly couple's hands raised in victory. But Reina didn't forget and looked for some revenge in their first singles meeting.
The ladies opened the card on December 13 and the huge crowd was soldly and vocally behind Reina. Despite being at a bit of a size disadvantage, she brought heart and desire to the competition. But she didn't bring ringside backup and that caused her some problems as Jones was a constant and obvious presence in the match. Towards the end of the match, he jumped up on the ring apron and argued with referee Bill Decker. This brought Dustin Daniels out and the rookie yanked on Jones' legs, pulling him off the ring. Meanwhile, in the ring, Reina hit a Tilt-a-whirl sunset flip and scored the pin. Star was irate and Jones protested the decision as well. He said he didn't know who Dusin Daniels was, but challenged him later in the show for some revenge.
When that match came, the odds were even. Daniels brought Reina and Jones was accompanied by Star. And even though they weren't booked into the match, they still managed to get involved. As Daniels went for the Moonlight Drive, Star jumped up on the apron and began yelling and arguing with the referee. Reina scurried around and pulled Star off the apron. Both women began swinging at each other as an impromptu catfight broke out and all the fans attention all went down to the ringside area. Daniels' attention also fell there and when he brought his mind back to the ring, he was met with a superkick by Jones and covered for the pin.
His mission accomplished, Jones felt convinced that he had again proven himself better than one of the rookies in MSWA. And while his issue is done, it remains to be seen whether the problems between Reina & Star are over and done with.
