"Dr. Death" Steve Williams to appear at AWA Superclash

Amite, LA - Get your adrenaline pumping. The history and legacy of Mid-South Professional Wrestling returns to Louisiana Saturday, August 12, 2006 at the Florida Parishes Arena, Amite, Louisiana. AWA Wrestling Entertainment presents ?SUPERCLASH ? Wrestling?s Big Easy? with a collection of Professional Wrestling?s BIGGEST and BADDEST Superstars. AWA sanctioned territories World -1 Fighting Arts Georgia & Florida, AWA / CWF Mid-Atlantic, AWA Hawaii and AWA Worldwide will all be proudly represented as a part of SUPERCLASH.
The event kick?s off with an autograph session at 6:00 p.m. for all ticket holders, followed by live action at 7 p.m. The all-star line-up includes a World Championship match featuring AWA World Heavyweight Champion *?Slick? *"Dr. Death" Steve Williams* graduated from the University of Oklahoma in 1981 after a stellar football career that saw him named an All-American. He also competed as an amateur wrestler losing in the finals of an NCAA tournament to future Olympic medallist Bruce Baumgartner . *Williams* was trained for professional wrestling by Bill Watts and started wrestling in 1982 in Watt's Louisiana based Mid-South Wrestling . From 1982 through 2003, *Williams* wrestled for both WWE and WCW while doing tours in Japan. In late 2003, ?*Dr. Death*? fought the hardest opponent of his career ? cancer. In 2004, *Williams* had life-saving surgery for throat cancer. After battling the effects of this crippling disease and being declared cancer free, ?*Dr. Death*? beat all odds and returned to the wrestling ring in 2005. Considered a ?home coming? of sorts, *Williams *looks forward to active competition again as part of the Florida Parishes Arena?s ?*Superclash ? Wrestling?s Big Easy*? Saturday, August 12, 2006.
