Birthday Suprises Present And Future at ComPro

They say the older you get, the less you want to celebrate your birthday. It was cool as a kid to know that there was a day when you got all kinds of toys and cake, but as the years pile on, it can become just another reminder that you're inching towards the grave. With that said, many friends still try to do something special for their loved ones on that day. And if those friends are involved in pro wrestling, it usually doesn't turn out the way anyone plans.
Back on June 6, MWA & TAP Tag Team Champion Tim Rockwell tried to make a big deal of Stevie Caballero's birthday by having ComPro Champion Draven Cross bring him a cupcake prior to Rockwell's match. But ComPro ring announcer Jamie shoved it in Stevie's face because he called her a monkey.
Last year, the very first MWA event was held on MWA & TAP Tag Team Champion Bernard Funk's birthday. Funk didn't even make it past the first round, losing to current MWA Champion Michael Barry.
So, for Texas, Inc., it seemed like birthdays might want to be something they avoid. But no one's ever successfully told this tandom what to do. This past Saturday, Texas, Inc., Draven & Caballero all came to the ring together, carrying a cake box. Timmy took the microphone and seemed unable to come to a conclusion on Bernard Funk's age, starting at 29 and going up to 33, then back to 29. He then invited everyone to sing Happy Birthday to Bernard and informed him that they had a special cake for him. At that point, ComPro Tag Team Champions Team SuperBad arrived. MWA MAX-Division Champion Justin Lee took the microphone and said that they were just there to wish "Uncle Bernie" a happy birthday. Justin also reminded fans that the last time he was at a Texas birthday celebration, there was cake on everyone's faces (as a result of him superkicking a cake into Stevie's face.). Justin also quizzed his partner, TAP Adrenaline Champion El Super Colibri, on the last two times TSB had faced Texas, Inc. Colibri reminded him that both of their last encounters had resulted in a Texas loss. Rockwell bowed up to Justin, reminding him that they would be receiving their title shot on October 10 at the first show in ComPro's new location. He also reminded them that, if Texas, Inc. won, they would be triple crown tag team champions for the second time. Rockwell invited Team SuperBad to have some cake, but then pulled the top off the cakebox, reached in and produced a large cowbell. This connected with TSB's heads and the beating commenced until TAP Oklahoma Heritage Champion Shane Morbid came to the tag team champions' rescue. After driving off the Texas forces, Shane promised victory in the main event that night.
That match, which had been heavily hyped over the previous two weeks, kicked off and soon into the match, Colibri was isolated. Unable to make the tag, he endured several minutes of beatings before finally connecting with Shane Morbid. With Shane in the ring for his side, Funk crawled to his corner to make a tag. But Draven Cross, who had been perfectly willing to get in the ring a few minutes earlier before Shane entered the fray, now found himself in a bad situation.
As Funk went for the tag, Rockwell had dropped off to make the tag and Draven flat-out refused! This left Funk alone in the ring with the man who would love nothing better than to kick teeth down Draven's throat. As the champion looked on, terrified, Morbid connected with the Shining Wizard to Funk's head and pinned the birthday boy to end the show.
Or so it looked. But the show went on for a few more minutes as the beat down on the winners occurred. After repelling the bad guys, Morbid told everyone that he would finally receive his shot at the gold: On Night of Champions on October 13 (which, ironically, is Shane's birthday), Morbid will face Cross in their first-ever face-to-face meeting. Shane is hoping to capitalise on Draven's fear and combine it with a healthy dose of brutality. It's pretty obvious that Draven wants nothing to do with Shane, but unless Stevie can pull some wicked legal trickery out of his bag, it looks like a huge birthday celebration will be in store for "Mr. Endurance".
