Jerry Lawler May Join Mayoral Race

MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Another well-known Memphis name may be added to the growing list of potential candidates in the Memphis mayoral special election: Jerry "The King" Lawler.
In an interview on a local radio station morning show Monday, Lawler expressed interest in entering the race and plans to make an announcement this week.
Lawler also said that many of his fans on the wrestling circuit are encouraging him to run.
Lawler placed third in the 1999 Memphis mayoral race behind Willie Herenton and Joe Ford, garnering 12% of the votes.
