Campbell's Ego Out Of Control
Posted: Jun 30th 2009 By: CMBurnham
Boss Campbell has never been one to let the truth stand in the way of good publicity.
The manager of the Popped Collar Posse has made it clear that he has no shame and will take credit for any of the actions of his men as well as things his men didn't do, but might have been able to.
This is how Campbell has come to be crowing about putting Justin Lee out of action. Lee and his partner, MWA MAX-Division and TAP Adrenaline Champion El Super Colibri, lost the ComPro Tag Team Titles to Crazy Beautiful, in part due to a knee injury Justin suffered during the match. Campbell has been claiming to have "put Justin Lee out of wrestling" for weeks now and while it's true that Justin has yet to make an appearance in ComPro, he has still popped up occasionally in other Oklahoma feds.
Still, a little thing like the truth didn't stop Campbell from announcing on May 30 that he had signed to face Justin Lee in Justin's "retirement" match. The fans were excited about the possibility of Justin putting Campbell in his place, but when "Justin Lee" emerged through the curtain, it was obvious that Boss had once again stretched the truth. In reality, the man facing Boss was Das Karnage, dressed in a bad blonde wig. But the crowd reaction was still very positive for Karnage (something he's not accustomed to hearing) and it may have inspired him as he was rather aggressive towards Boss, prompting the portly manager to exclaim on more than one occassion, "That's not part of the plan!". Boss was ultimately triumphant in this match and then things really got out of control.
So bloated was Boss' ego from his victory that he began to call himself "The Brookside Bad Boy". He even distributed flyers on the fans' cars, encouraging them to vote him Manager of the Year in the 2009 Year-End awards (which are still 6 months away.) Then, to top it off, Boss announced that he would once again be facing Justin Lee on June 27 in what he referred to as the "Kathy Taylor Classic".
This time, the fans knew what to expect, but Boss still decided to play around a little. He came out at the beginning and said that ComPro owner Mike Two had manipulated the contract, forcing Boss to compete in a handicap match against Team SuperBad. Mike seemed to have no knowledge of this, but Boss waived it off and sputtered his typical boastings. And when the time for the match came, Boss confidently walked to the ring, prepared to face a 2-on-1 situation. As before, the fans were in for some bait & switch, as "Team SuperBad" consisted of ComPro Oklahoma X Division Champion Goldeneye, who had somehow stolen Colibiri's mask and was wearing it over his usual one, and ComPro Tag Team Champion Michael York, who was sporting the Justin Lee wig. Just as before, the match was a travesty and, oddly, the PCP members were a little harder in their blows than Boss was expecting, again prompting him to exclaim that certain things "weren't according to the plan." But after a few minutes of this, Mike Two had had enough. He entered the ring as referee John the Encourager was counting a pinfall on York by Campbell and announced that they were "not doing this again!" Boss feigned complete ignorance of the procedings, even claiming not to have realised that it was his own men after Mike Two unmasked Goldeneye and reclaimed the wig off of York. Mike Two then said that he had someone who had wanted a match this week, but had been unable to get an opponent. Now, he had one and Mike Two announced the return of the "Space Cowboy" Jason Jones!
The crowd went wild as Jones danced his way to the ring. He took the mic and told them that he had a torn ACL and a concussion from the Harrison Street Fight two weeks prior which pitted the Old School Express against the Jet Setters. But the greatest moment in career was personally shaving Boss Campbell's sideburns and he wanted to once again put the "fat Jewish snake" in his place. Even though he was outnumbered by the PCP, Jones had a plan. He had brought a roll of athletic tape to the ring and, while the referee was busy with the PCP, Jones used it to bind the wrists and ankles of Campbell. Unable to move his arms or legs in any helpful way, victory seemed assured for Jones, until York introduced a pair of brass knucks to the back of Jones' skull, knocking him out and allowing Campbell (who had to hop across part of the ring) to gain an unlikely victory.
It seeme likely that Campbell was soon be crowing about how he overcame the odds that Mike Two put in his way and proceded to pull up another victory. At least this time, he can't claim that he won something over Justin Lee. Nonetheless, until the real Justin Lee steps up and puts Boss in his place, fans will continue to have to withstand the lies and slander that come from the venomous proclamations of Boss Campbell.
