Oklahoma Scoop

Oklahoma Scoop

Posted: Jul 6th 2006 By: mikeiles

There were several stories that broke over the past few days so we decided on another run of the scoop for this week. Here goes...

- Jake "The Snake" Roberts was reportedly backstage at the TNA tapings on July 3rd in Orlando, FL.

- NWA-U star Scotty Charisma continues to get WWE bookings. On the July 3rd edition of Raw, Charisma wrestled using the name Scott Wright, but was squashed by Umaga.

- A big 4th anniversary party was held by Jeff Jarrett after the tapings on June 19th, with almost everyone there. They were watching Raw and Jim Cornette cut a promo about the mentality of getting wrestling over by showing male rear on TV. Cornette was said to be enthusiastic about being there and in a very good mood.

- TNA Director of Talent Terry Taylor has been trying to talk a number of wrestlers into signing new long term deals. As previously reported, Ron "The Truth" Killings has signed a new contract.

- The Big Show, who attended Northern Oklahoma Junior College in Tonkawa, won the ECW World Title from Rob Van Dam on July 4th. Show is now the only wrestler to have won the World Heavyweight Title in WCW, WWE, and ECW.

- A.J. Styles and Christopher Daniels pushed to become a tag team for quite a while before their request was granted. Both men are happy to be out of the X Division for now and are expected to have a long run with the titles.

- Speaking of Styles & Daniels, they have also been pushing to get Matt Sydal a job in the company. TNA is sort of interested, but Sydal is still under contract to the MTV WSX project. Sydal worked the CWE show with Styles in Tulsa in October 2005.

- One more Styles reference for you. Ring of Honor will be cutting back on the use of TNA talents from now on. Alex Shelley is not scheduled for any bookings with them through the fall, while Styles is only booked on two ROH shows for the rest of the year. Sonjay Dutt is booked for a show in a couple of weeks but it will only be a one time thing. Samoa Joe and Christopher Daniels are the only two TNA talents that are expected to be used on a regular basis by ROH but they most likely won't be given any titles for fear that they could be pulled if TNA decides to expand it's schedule. Styles' final two bookings in ROH for a while will take place on July 15th at Death Before Dishonor and on August 4th in Long Island, NY.

- Dusty Rhodes' youngest son Cody is now in training in Ohio Valley Wrestling, the developmental organization of WWE, using the name Cody Runnels.

- The Naturals were told to cut their hair short for a new gimmick. Andy Douglas apparently didn't like the idea and it is not known how things stand right now. It could result in the push of the team being dropped.

- The upcoming WWE DVD featuring Vince McMahon will have 9 matches that will be billed as extra features. One of the matches is a Street Fight against Ric Flair from the 2002 Royal Rumble.
