Luchadore Primed To Win First Singles Title

He's been competing in Oklahoma since 2003, but until last year, he had never held a tag team title. Now, the Canadian Luchadore can claim that he is a two-time ComPro Tag Team Champion, but stlll cannot celebrate being a singles champion. That situation may be resolved this Saturday as he faces the champion with the worst win/loss record this year, ComPro Oklahoma X Division Champion Goldeneye.
The FACT that Goldeneye has been able to hold onto the X Division Title may be less reflective of his lack of ability and more indicative of the state of the ComPro X Division as a whole. Former champions Jake McCoy and The Greatest Bolo have not been seeing since each lost their titles. Former champions such as MWA & TAP Tag Team Champion Tim Rockwell, Justin Lee & MWA MAX-Division Champion El Super Colibri have been preoccupied with tag team goals while others, such as Shane Morbid and Cold Blooded Chris have moved on to heavyweight division. This left a fairly shallow pool of contenders for Goldeneye to compete against. The strongest challenged seemed to come from The Amazing Bolo, but the agile competitor hasn't been seen for almost 2 months.
This situation forced a Number One contender's match to be held. Das Karnage and The Canadian Luchadore were both entered, as was Rockwell. When the match was announced, Rockwell came out first and informed the crowd that it was a year ago that he won the X Division Title, but more importantly it was Stevie Caballero's birthday. One year ago, Caballero had his birthday cake superkicked in his face by Justin Lee. Lee wasn't around to do that this year, but Rockwell had taken precautions and had ComPro Champion Draven Cross bring out a cupcake. Figuring there could be no embarassment there, he presented the cupcake to Stevie, who proceded to show it off to the other people in the ring. But when he got to ComPro ring announcer Jamie, she shoved the cupcake in his face, saying it was payback for calling her a "monkey" all the time.
The celebration out of the way, the match began. And despite it being advertised as a Triple Threat Match, it was really a 1-on-1 match as Rockwell stayed on the outside with Caballero for most of the match, complaining about how he didn't want to be in the match and was much more interested in gaining the ComPro Tag Team Titles once his uncle, MWA & TAP Tag Team Champion Bernard Funk came back from his suspension. While Rockwell and Caballero discussed their future plans, the Luchadore made his intentions clear, especially to the X Division Champion, who came out to observe at ringside. Eventually, Rockwell decided he didn't care about the match and left, allowing the Luchadore to roll up Das Karnage and become the #! contender. With Goldeneye still at ringside, the Luchadore said he couldn't wait until next week.
But Goldeneye's manager, Boss Campbell, had a plan in place. He had contacted ComPro owner Mike Two and legelly leveraged a situation that allowed him to pick the opponents for his champions to face in tune-up matches this week. Boss and the rest of the Popped Collar Posse interrupted Sensei Bolo when he came out to address the crowd and informed him that HE was to be the opponent of Goldeneye, even though Bolo protested that he was only a manager. Referee John the Encourager had no choice but to ring the bell and start the match and Bolo, who was not prepared in any way, felt the wrath of Goldeneye, until he ducked a Golden Boot, which connected with John's chin and knocked him out. At that point, the Canadian Luchadore arrived and threw a kendo stick to Sensei, who promptly slammed it across the champion, then rolled him up as John recovered to count the pin. Boss' plan had failed and his champion had suffered his 21st loss this year, made all the more embarassing because it was to a manager.
An unofficial alliance between Sensei and the Luchadore had been made the previous week, when Sensei saved the Luchadore from a 4-on-1 post match attack by the PCP. Now, that alliance seems to be official and Bolo is pictured on the poster for Night of Champions XV as being in Luchadore's corner. Sensei recently managed ComPro's other Canadian representative, TAP Champion The Canadian Red Devil, during AWFUL's first event, so perhaps a deal was struck at that point. Luchadore can feel a little more secure knowing that he has someone who can counter the near-guaranteed interference from Boss Campbell. And perhaps, the Luchadore can achieve what many belived he should have done several years ago and bring some gold to the Great White North once more.
