Can Burns trust Funk?

When reviewing the history of wrestling in Oklahoma, several teams stand out. One has been hated and vilified throughout most of their run. That team is The Texas Outlaws. No matter what combination of Outlaws came down the aisle, most of the time they were hated. It didn't matter if they are accompanied to the ring by Flamon Raymon, Ledge, Leather, or Miss Venom, the fan reaction was almost always the same. Hatred.
That changed several months ago when one of the original Texas Outlaws, "Bonecrusher" Bobby Burns started hearing cheers for the first time in a long time. Sure he was a fan favorite for a brief time in World Wrestling Empire. But cheers are something he hadn't heard in well over a decade. Speculation abounded as to how a member of one of the most hated factions in Oklahoma wrestling history could actually become so popular. It may have been because Burns was finally a loner. For the first time in his Oklahoma wrestling career he did not have another Texas Outlaw at his side. Dan Wilder had long since retired. Bernard Funk, Renegade, and Flamon Raymon left SRPW for NWA-U, then all wound up in TPW. Burns teamed up with Terry Montana and they became a formidable team. But Burns hungered for a singles title and began pursuing SRPW Champion Shane Morbid. He fulfilled his dream by capturing that title on 6/16/06 in a Bullrope/Barbed Wire Match.
Around the pinnacle of Bonecrusher's pursuit of Morbid, Bernard Funk returned to SRPW along with his nephew Timmy J. Funk picked up where he left off his SRPW career instantly becoming one of the most hated men on the roster when he assisted Timmy in attacking Cade Sydal. Funk is a wily veteran as well and has never been well liked by the fans. Until now. Funk came to the aid of Bobby Burns at a recent SRPW show.
But can Bobby Burns trust one of his former Texas Outlaw partners? Funk has cheated, lied, stolen title belts, hung Rocco Valentino with a cowbell rope, and countless other vile acts. Now he is watching the back of his former partner. Can the fans of SRPW cheer for a wrestler that they have booed relentlessly for so long. If Bobby Burns can change, is it possible that Bernard Funk can as well? How does Timmy feel about his Uncle Bernie being on the side of good? Time will tell. As of right now, The Texas Outlaws are heroes. Perhaps the Little Texas song has come true and God blessed Texas.
