Lots of stuff to report so here goes...
- Former SRPW wrestler Adam Thornstowe has been rather busy as of late. Thornstowe won the Supreme Pro Wrestling Heavyweight Title on April 30th in Sacramento, CA by defeating Oliver John. On June 23rd, he also won the SPW United States Title in Antioch, CA by winning an 8 Man Gauntlet. Unfortunately immediately after winning the title, he was challenged by Paul Isadora and lost the title. Thornstowe was undeterred as he won the Portland Wrestling Heavyweight Title the next night in Portland, OR by defeating Vinny Massaro. He is currently in a Best of Seven Series of matches against "The Big Ugly" J.D. Bishop and recently tied the series at one win apiece on July 2nd.
- Former IZW Champion Big Van Vader returns to action on July 16th for a wrestling show being promoted by Tomohiko Hashimoto in a 350-seat arena in Tokyo. Vader, 50, did a have stint in WWE last fall before "stumbling" out of the promotion. Vader did sign a WWE's legend deal. He will also team with former WWF superstar Dick Togo against Great Sasuke and Soul Tiger on July 17th for Shinjuku Pro Wrestling in Tokyo.
- Ene Watts (the ex-wife of Cowboy Bill Watts) is looking to sell the entire Mid South/UWF video library. WWE is interested, but so is an oil business executive. Currently videos and DVDs of the old Mid-South & UWF are available at www.universalwrestling.com
- Long time New Japan employee Tatsumi Fujinami, who has been with the company since it formed in 1972, has left the promotion. Fujinami has plans of starting his own wrestling company.
- Sgt. Slaughter will be appearing at this year's GI Joe convention in New Orleans. "It's a good time to be here. The city needs the help," said Slaughter, a former military drill sergeant and professional wrestler who himself is idolatrized as an action figure. He is the keynote speaker and a major draw for many of the avid collectors and fans who have come from all over the country.
- Speaking of Slaughter, he will be signing autographs on Military Night at the Lakewood Blueclaws Baseball evening game in Lakewood, NJ on Wednesday July 5th.
- Dewey Robertson, also know as The Missing Link, has released an autobiography entitled "Bang Your Head!"
- A new DVD has been released entitled "Heroes of World Class". It tells the story of The Von Erichs and the rise and fall of World Class Championship Wrestling. The DVD can be purchased at www.rightherepictures.com.
- WWE Stars, Trish Stratus and Ric Flair are currently in Australia to promote an upcoming tour. They were off RAW house shows this weekend. Both Flair and Stratus were on Channel 9's Today show. Flair put the figure four on one of the hosts in a lighthearted way.
- TNA announced that a new DVD entitled "The Best Of Sting" will be released on October 10th.
- Toy Biz has just released series 3.5 of their TNA action figure line at Toys R Us stores in the US. The set includes A.J. Styles in baby blue, Elix Skipper in white, Ron Killings in black and yellow, and Jeff Hardy in a white tank top.
- Jim Cornette isn't expected back to TNA until July 31st, thus he'll miss Victory Road on July 16th due to a Ring of Honor commitment. Cornette will also miss the August PPV as he previously committed to a wrestling convention in Washington, DC that weekend. If needed for recorded segments, Cornette is willing to drive to Nashville to do so.
- Wrestlemania 22 is currently #1 on Billboard's top selling sports DVDs. The Dusty Rhodes story is #2, followed by WWE presents the greatest managers, WWE presents the ECW collector's set and Backlash, in fifth place.
- Ted DiBiase's sons Ted Jr. and Mike will be training with Pro Wrestling Noah. They make their debuts on July 8th in Eldon, MO for Harley Race's promotion, World League Wrestling.
- Honky Tonk Man will face Doink the Clown in the main event of a wrestling show being held during the San Diego County Fair. No word as to who will portray Doink.
