Legion 13 Sidelined With Injuries, Possible Dissention
Posted: Apr 15th 2009 By: CMBurnham
The days when Ray Martinez controlled ComPro with an iron fist are long past, but Ray still made sure his influence was felt. Since being deposed as owner and manager of ComPro, Ray took his main charge, Jesus Rodriguez and teamed him with Dutch Hagen to form Legion 13. Ray has always claimed that "we are many", suggesting that there were more members of the faction to come. To date, that hasn't happened. Perhaps now would be a good time, based on the events of the past couple of weeks.
To put it simply, Ray hasn't had a good time recently. 2 weeks ago, Ray brought Jesus out to face off against the Amazing Bolo. Amazing was accompanied by his manager Sensei Bolo, who brought with him some Coca-Cola. Ostensibly presenting it as a piece offering, he waited until Ray had consumed a good portion of the bottle before informing him (in a childish rhyme) that he had allegedly urinated in Ray's Coke bottle. The look of disgust was clear as day to everyone present and Ray was unable to focus on the match, allowing Amazing Bolo to pick up a win over the former ComPro Champion.
This week, Jesus faced off against Tyson Armstrong. These two had an issue last month at the TAP event and are scheduled to face each other again this Friday. Again, Ray's mouth simply made things worse, as he addressed the audience prior to their match. He said that he wanted to let the fans know about people like his opponent, then made several racist observations, including how his opponent's people talk through movies at theatres and how you can never trust his opponent's people around wallets. Ray attempted to evade the obvious racist diatribe by saying that he was speaking of all people in Muskogee (obviously ignorant of the FACT that Tyson is from Chicago), but the damage was done. Tyson was irate and prepared to knock Jesus into next week for what Ray said. And this motivation carried him to a win, further lowering Jesus' standings in ComPro and possibly causing a little tension between Jesus and Ray. After the match was over, Jesus seemed a little bit upset at his manager, but nothing more came of it.
While Jesus was having his problems with the Bolos and Tyson, Dutch Hagen was trying figure out how to deal with the singles scene. For a long time, Dutch has been primarily a tag team wrestler, but the past couple of weeks have found him in 1-on-1 competition. Last week, he faced one of the biggest up-and-comers in ComPro in Kevin Morgan. It was the opening match, but those men treated it like it was the main event, throwing everything they had into it. Ultimately, Morgan came out the winner, despite Ray's intentions. But at least Dutch left under his own power then. This week is a different story.
Dutch was set to take on TAP Champion The Canadian Red Devil and CRD was in a playful mood this week. While it's normal for him to get the referee to particpate in the match with the arm-wringer that CRD comes off onto from the second rope, this week, he took it further. CRD spent part of the beginning of the match trying to blind Dutch by poking him in the eyes. It was blatantly illegal, but the crowd truly enjoyed it. After the referee protested this a couple of times, CRD took the referee's hand and used his fingers to poke Dutch in the eyes. This brought Ray into the match, but because Dutch was blinded, he didn't know who he was, so he scooped his manager and slammed him, then covered him while the Devil counted to 3!! Dutch began to celebrate as if he'd won the match, but that was quickly proven wrong as CRD attacked Dutch and the "Real" match was back on.
With the fun and games over, both men now brought out their "A" games. But the experience of the Devil proved one of the deciding factors in the match. Always aware of his ring positioning, the Devil found himself backed into a corner (literally) with Dutch charging towards him. Not able to escape by running to the left or right, the Devil thought laterally and decided to put Dutch behind him. So he dropped and gave Dutch a back-body-drop. That would be devestating enough, but given the position where the Devil elevated him, he had no choice but to come down on the announce table, breaking it into several pieces.
At that point, the match was stopped by the referee. Both CRD and Ray seemed very upset and concerened. Dutch lay motionless on top of the remnants of the table as he was assisted. Then Jesus Rodriguez came out and immediately ran over to his fallen partner. The referee announced that the match was over and the winner was the Devil. ComPro ring announcer Jamie then went to intermission. Ray & Jesus both had to assist Dutch to the back and seemed to drop him once as Dutch's legs gave out underneath him.
At last report, Dutch was reported to be out for 2 weeks to a month, due to injuries he received. Ray Martinez has posted a thread about Dutch and his recovery on the message board at www.compoundpro.com
