Newcomers Raise Hell For Canadian Red Devil

Newcomers Raise Hell For Canadian Red Devil

Posted: Apr 8th 2009 By: CMBurnham

In the world of indy wrestling, wrestling for 5 years often makes you a grizzled veteran. TAP Champion The Canadian Red Devil has been wrestling that long and has pretty much seen everything there is to see when it comes to sneaky, underhanded tactics. Which makes his recent issues with Goldeneye and Das Karnage all the more frustrating.

The Devil could probably understand why he keeps coming out on the losing end of the stick if his opponents were tag team partners or friendly outside the ring. But Karnage and Goldeneye have nothing in common except a shared disdain of the crowd. And that feeling is mutual.

Several weeks ago, Goldeneye lost 6 matches in a row to the Devil. It was a record for ComPro and might be a record in the state of Oklahoma. That type of humiliation would seem to encourage one to avoid repeating it. But in this instance, Goldeneye not only survived the humiliation, but also seems to have benefitted from it.

Two weeks ago, these three men faced off for the first time in a triple threat match. Devil took advantage of his experience factor and eventually had his opponents stacked in the corner. A running charge forced Karnage to stumble out and the Devil set up for the face plant, but Goldeneye hit the Devil from behind, then rolled him out of the ring and covered Karnage, who had been rendered nearly unconscious from his own move. It appeared that some of the embarassment had been avenged and Goldeneye could begin to look forward.

The next week, all three men again ventured into the ring to see if the outcome would be the same. Goldeneye certainly seemed more confident and that might have lead to the ending. One again, the match came down to the point where the Devil has whipped both Karnage & Goldeneye into the corner. This time, though, they were in opposite corners. The Devil charged in on Karnage, caught him with the knee, then prepared to set up the Face Plant. But Goldeneye, who was in the opposite corner, came charging out and ruined that moment for the red-daped wrestler. In a moment, the situation once again unfolded. The Devil his the face plant, but this time, Karnage rolled The Devil out of the ring and picked up the scraps for himself insead by pinning Goldeneye.

That made 2 consecutive losses to a pair of opponents whose in-ring time doens' t even look like a blip conpared to the accomplishments of the Devil. This goes to show that anyone can beat anyone at any given time. But more importantly, it may be getting inside the head of CRD. The next day, he faced TAP Pure Xtreme Champion Brandon Groom at the MSWA show. While the Devil has always had something of a prickly relationship with the crowd in Midwest City, he was making no effort to be cuddly and likeable, making it all the better when Groom put him in the opening match.

If Goldeneye and/or Das Karnage are working to get inside the head of the Devil, they may not have far to go. Major victories over a former TPW Light Heavyweight Champion should go pretty far towards earning both men a shot at the ComPro Oklahoma X Division Title that Jake McCoy currently has. Plus, with the Devil looking over his back, he might not be focused for his upcoming defence of the TAP Title against Brett Taylor
