IZW's "March Mayhem" a huge success

IZW's "March Mayhem" a huge success

Posted: Mar 24th 2009 By: mikeiles

As fans were filing into The Impact Arena in Lawton for IZW's "March Mayhem" several questions abound. Would Dustin Heritage be able to fend of the challenge of Dane Griffin and continue his reign as Impact Division Champion? Would Shane Rawls defeat Eric Rose causing him to leave IZW forever? Would Crisstopher Crow get the best of Max McGuirk? Which team would win the 10 Man Tag Team Steel Cage Elimination Match? But most importantly, where would all the paying fans sit?

The crowd was standing room only and the place was electric. Fans packed in and awaited the action. We started off with Shane Rawls vs. Eric Rose. The stipulation was that if Rawls won, Rose would be gone forever. Both men pulled out all the stops with Rawls relying on power and Rose taking to the air. Both men were down and Rawls began to stir when Ted Nugent's "Stranglehold" began. Out strolled IZW Co-Commissioner Mike Iles who had been injured by Rawls on January 31st. This distracted Rawls just enough for Rose to pick up the victory and keep his spot on the roster.

Randy Price then came out and said he had been told that his match with Ky-ote Joe would be postponed for two weeks. A video of Ky-ote Joe aired on the ZorthoTron 420 with Joe challenging Price to an Indian Death Match. Price accepted and thought he had the night off, but it was not to be. Mike Iles came out again and said the match with Joe was postponed but Price did not have the night off. He then introduced Price's opponent, rookie Lars Manderson. Price had the experience on his side to counter Manderson's power. Price picked up the win and is looking towards his Indian Death Match.

Match #3 was Crisstopher Crow vs. Max McGuirk. Both men came at each other with gusto. The fans were firmly behind "The Freakshow" and their disdain for "The 3rd Generation Superstar" showed tenfold. Crow won the match and the fans rejoiced.

After match #3, ring announcer Jesse Storm brought out Mike Iles. Storm said that he and some of the wrestlers chipped in some money and bought Iles a token of appreciation. It was an IZW plaque thanking him for his dedication. Iles accepted and told the fans they were the reason that IZW was as successful as it is. Out came Impact, Inc. in the form of Angel Williams, Co-Commissioner Steve O, and Tag Team Champions Johnny Z & Bernie D. Steve O then read an official paper he was handed by Johnny Z. It was a court injunction from Oklahoma Supreme Court in response to the lawsuit filed by Johnny Z against the Oklahoma Boxing Commission. In short, it said that Johnny Z was the only person allowed to hire, fire, and appoint a commissioner. Johnny Z then announced that Iles was fired and also gave him a severance package...a beatdown from Angel Williams. John O'Malley and BLK-OUT made the save. As Iles walked up the ramp to leave for the last time, the fans chanted his name. Iles wiped away the tears, saluted the fans, and exited through the curtain.

Match #4 was the only title match on the card as Dustin Heritage defended the Impact Division Title against Dane Griffin. Heritage is now sporting a buzzcut instead of his flowing blond locks. Dane Griffin, as always, was accompanied to the ring by his Revolution partner and former Impact Division Champion Seth Allen. For some of the match, it seemed Heritage was fighting a 2-On-1, but prevailed and continued his title reign.

During intermission, the Steel Cage was constructed around the ring. You could feel the tension in the air. Wrestlers would enter every 5 minutes and it was 5 on 5 elimination style. You had several variables in the ring. The feud between BLK-OUT and Tag Team Champions Johnny Z & Bernie D was far from over. Same goes for Kenny Campbell and Seth Allen. Plus, a new feud had been developing as of late between Blake Albright and Heavyweight Champion Aaron Neil. Allen was busted open at one point and his blood appeared on the fists of John O'Malley. Johnny Z was superplexed off the top of the cage by BLK-OUT. Angel Williams eliminated both members of BLK-OUT when he speared and pinned both Jermaine Johnson and Montego Seeka. In the end it was Blake Albright pinning Aaron Neil to be sole survivor and win the match for Team Impact. Inc. The entire team reentered the cage and celebrated with "The Poster Boy".

IZW returns to The Impact Arena in Lawton each and every Saturday night at 7pm. Tickets are just $5 each and as we always say, that is the best value for your wrestling dollar.

IZW...FEEL THE IMPACT!!!
