Rawls repays a "favor"

Shane Rawls is nicknamed "Brawler". He has worked in every wrestling fed in the lower half of Oklahoma. He has had success in his young career as he has been the 3DW Heavyweight Champion and the longest reigning UWF06 Heavyweight Champion during that fed's existence. He has been a tag team partner for Eric Rose. But he has also feuded with Rose and that feud has spilled over from fed to fed. Now it is one of the big feuds in IZW.

A few weeks ago, Rawls attacked Rose in the wrestler's parking lot at IZW's Impact Arena. For those actions, IZW Co-commissioner Mike Iles suspended Rawls indefinitely on January 17th. Well apparently the other commissioner in IZW, Steve O, felt that "indefinitely" was only one week and he brought Rawls back the very next week while Iles was absent. Rawls defeated Kenny Campbell by DQ but he also stuck his nose in Rose's business as well, as Rose lost to Austin Tacious by Countout.

On January 31st, the show began with a video with Rawls begging for a match with Rose. Steve O said he was unable, but he would do Rawls a favor if Rawls would do him a favor. They agreed and the video closed. Little did anyone know what either favor would entail.

Rose was scheduled to face Randy Price and after the introductions by ring announcer Jesse Storm, the music for Steve O began. He came out and said that he was giving referee Jimmie Deen a break and announced a special guest referee who turned out to be Shane Rawls. Now the deck was stacked against Rose and we knew the favor that Steve O promised Rawls.

Rawls called the match somewhat evenly but was slow on a few counts for Rose. Eventually Rawls got involved and received a Superkick from Rose for his efforts. Rose jumped off the top rope onto Rawls, but was caught by Rawls then slammed to the mat. Rawls then rolled Price on top of Rose and made the three count. Rawls then continued beating on Rose as Price retreated up the ramp with his illgotten win.

Iles came out yelling at Rawls. He got up in the youngster's face saying he was the official and had no business getting involved. He continued saying he didn't care who he was or who trained him or where he came from. Rawls then threw a punch and connected. He then began beating on Iles. He then got a chair and placed the left arm of Iles in it and stomped on it. He did it a second time by jumping off the second turnbuckle. Iles writhed in pain as security and Jesse storm got in the ring to check on him. Rawls went up the ramp and was greeted with a handshake from Steve O. The other favor had been revealed.

Rawls apparently has a quick temper and may not know how to control it. Will Rawls be suspended yet again? What damage was inflicted on Iles? One thing is evident. Steve O wants complete control of IZW and will use anyone and everyone to get what he wants.

Other News & Notes from the IZW show:
The opening match featured the debuting Lars Manderson who was trained for wrestling by current IZW Heavyweight Champion Michael Barry. Manderson is athletic but was thrown to the wolves in having to face the only man in IZW history to hold every singles title, John O'Malley. While Manderson tried his best, the veteran O'Malley was too much for the rookie.

After the first match, Commissioner Iles came out and announced that "Violent Valentines" on February 14th was IZW's 100th show and would feature a Fatal 4-Way Match for the Impact Division Title. He then said as somewhat of a preview of that match, all 4 participants in that match would be in a tag team match. He introduced both members of Revolution (Dane Griffin & Impact Division Champion Seth Allen). He then announced Kenny Campbell and Dustin Heritage in seperate intros. If that was a preview, then the Fatal 4-Way should be quite a match. The finish came when Campbell accidentally clotheslined Heritage to set up the pin for Revolution. Campbell and Heritage had words after the match but did not come to blows.

Also announced for "Violent Valentines" was IZW Tag Team Champions BLK-OUT defending against former champions Johnny Z & Bernie D of Impact, Inc. We also got somewhat of a preview of that match as Johnny Z took on Jermaine Johnson. The match was fast paced and spilled to the floor. Both Montego Seeka and Bernie D were at ringside also. But the chicanery of Johnny Z and Bernie D were too much and Johnson suffered the loss.

The main event featured a Dog Collar Match between Crisstopher Crow and Austin Tacious. They have been after each other for weeks with mind games. It was a brutal match and both combatants werre covered in blood by the end. The match ended with Crow defeating Tacious.

Just one week remains until "Violent Valentines". What other matches will be announced for IZW 100th event? You can find out in person by coming out to The Impact Arena at 1009 SW F Ave. in Lawton.
