Title Change Caps Off Christian Wrestling Event

Norman, OK was the site of the CWF's most recent appearance in the state. And at the opening of the show, a collection of wrestlers who weren't familiar came out to meet the crowd. At the lead of this group was a man known as Jesus Freak. Jesus Freak introduced the crowd to the CWF Tag Team Champions the Hillbillys as well as their masked luchadore friend, Poco Loco. As the introductions were being made, another assemblage of talent came out, lead by a man with the CWF Title belt around his waist. Judging from the crowd reaction, this group was not going to be well received. The champion introduced himself as Ryan Heart and his associates were The Son of Thunder and "Showtime" Johnny Barnes. They also promised a surprise 4th member, claiming to have called "the best wrestler in Oklahoma" to be at their side.
Past history between Heart & Jesus Freak reared its head as Freak announced to the crowd that, until a couple of months ago, the CWF Title had been his. He wanted another shot and awaited Heart's reply. In what was no surprise, Heart refused, saying that a title shot would come Jesus Freak's way, but not this night. Instead, Heart had handpicked his opponent and would be giving the title shot to Poco Loco. He also said that the Hillbillies would be facing his associates in singles competition and after this statement, he left the ring so that Son of Thunder could face off against Hill Billy.
The Hillbillies didn't have much success in individual matches as Son of Thunder dominated Hill Billy while the surprise appearance of TAP Champion The Canadian Red Devil caught the other tag team champion, Hill Bobby, by surprise. And the trend continued when Ryan Heart (together with the insurance package of Johnny Barnes on the outside) successfully defended his title against Poco Loco. That didn't seem to be enough for the champion though, as he, Son of Thunder & Johnny Barnes proceded to put the boots to the popular masked man, prompting the return of the tag team champions and Jesus Freak.
An angry Jesus Freak took the microphone and said that he'd had enough of the cheap tactics. He demanded a title shot but was again denied by Heart. At this point, a huge "Chicken" chant broke out from the crowd, prompting Heart to reconsider. But he insisted that something be in it for him and suggested that the main event should be a 6-man tag team match. He'd put his Heavyweight Title on the line if the Hillbillies would put thier tag team titles on the line. If ANY member of his team pinned ANY member of the Jesus Freak's, Barnes & Son of Thunder would become tag team champions. And, if ANY member of Jesus Freak's team pinned ANY member of Heart's, then Jesus Freak would become the CWF Champion.
So the fans were excited because they knew, no matter what, they were going to see a new champion. And they weren't disappointed. Jesus Freak's team kept the pressure on Ryan Heart's team and even though the heels rallied at points, it was never enough. Eventually, The Hillbillies dragged Son of Thunder & Johnny Barnes outside, leaving champion and challenger in the ring. Jesus Freak hit a high power move and rolled up the champion for the 1-2-3. In the midst of a celebratory crowd, Jesus Freak had recaptured the gold that had been taken from him 2 months before.
Jesus Freak thanked the crowd and reminded them that ths was almost like a parable about how good things come to those who wait. He went on to lead the crowd in prayer and encourage those who had not given their life to the Lord to do so. In the end, the crowd experienced a good night of wrestling and heard a message that hopefully many would carry with them to the world outside of that gymnasium.
