BLK-OUT Receive Early Present At "Chaotic Christmas"

Posted: Dec 24th 2008 By: CMBurnham

When it comes to the IZW Tag Team Titles, BLK-OUT had 3 simple words for Impact, Inc. at the end of "Chaotic Christmas": "We Got This!"

And it was true, as Jermaine Johnson & Montego Seeka finally scored gold after chasing the champions for months. On two previous occasions, Johnson & Seeka had seen the IZW Tag Team Titles in their grasp, but had been unable to make good on that opportunity. And the most frustrating aspect was that they knew they could beat Johnny Z & Bernie D. They'd done so. On several occassions. They beat them in a 6-man tag team match with Aaron Neil as their partner (and IZW Champion Michael Barry as the 3rd member of Impact, Inc.). They'd beaten them in a non-title match to earn a title shot. And they'd beaten them by DQ in a title opportunity. But it was never enough.

Impact, Inc. are no fools and with co-commissioner Steve O in their pocket, it was made very clear to Johnson & Seeka that this would be their last chance. If they blew this one, there wouldn't be any other opportunity. But even with the numbers and legal shenanigans on their side, Impact, Inc. still felt concerned and tried to take actions that would prevent the match from taking place at all.

Last week, BLK-OUT came to the ring to address the crowd, but were ambushed when Bernie D & Angel Williams appeared from under the ring and attacked. Since the upcoming title match had been announced as a Tables, Ladders & Chairs Match, Bernie & Angel decided to introduce BLK-OUT to the lumber and pulled out a table. Bernie then put Johnson through the table (and through Seeka, who had been placed on the table by Williams) and Impact, Inc. left, feeling confident that their message had been sent. Both members of BLK-OUT had no chance to rest as they were forced to compete in singles matches and neither could overcome their injuries to gain victory over those opponents.

But with one week to recover and with the motivation of hundreds of fans, BLK-OUT came to the ring recharged and prepared to do whatever it took to gain those titles, even if it meant sacrificing their bodies. Then the champions appeared at the top of the ring. Johnny Z asked for the microphone and told the crowd that he'd been thinking a lot. He'd been wrestling for 7 years. For 5 of those years, he'd been tagging with Bernie D. They'd decided they didn't have to have this match and he told the referees to get the belts down and give them back. At that point, a huge "We got this!" chant broke out and ring announcer Jesse Storm brought up a stipulation in the contract, one that hadn't been made public. If Impact, Inc. refused to participate, they would lose the belts. Somehow, Steve O let this one slip through (pretty much signifying that it had been put there by co-commissioner Mike Iles) and the champions had no choice but to enter the ring and climb the ladder if they wanted their belts back.

During the course of this match, there were many moments where chants of "We got this!", "Holy Shit!" and "IZW" broke out as all 4 wrestlers put their bodies on the line. But the standout of this match had to be Jermaine Johnson, as he lived up to his nickname of "High Energy" by performing some of the most cringe-inducing moves seen in Oklahoma Indy wrestling. Among those moments were:

Johnson breaking a ladder with a splash. The ladder was set up between the ring and the barricade. Bernie D had been placed on the ladder, but he moved and when Johnson came down from the top rope, he went right through the ladder.

Johnson & Bernie battled each other on the stage. Johnson went for a spear, but Bernie picked up and threw him off the opposite side of the stage through tables positioned there.

Johnson climbed onto what might be called a balcony area to the left of the entrance ramp, then performed a somersault plancha onto both members of Impact, Inc.

Johnson hit a Russian Leg Sweep on Benie D while both men were on the ladder, putting Bernie through tables behind him. This rendered Bernie unconscious for the rest of the match.

Johnson & Seeka then intercepted Johnny Z as he climbed up the ladder. Earlier, Johnny & Bernie had stacked 6 tables into 2 piles of 3 outside the ring. Now was the time to use them as Johnny was trapped on the ladder and BLK-OUT began to tip it. With no way to escape, Johnny plumetted outside the ring and the the tables exploded as his body crashed through them.

With both members of Impact, Inc. out of action, Johnson & Seeka repositioned the ladders and ascended them together, simultaneously grabbing the title belts as the crowd erupted in cheers and applause.

Months of hard work, overcoming diversions, defeating substitute opponents and seeing the title belts just out of reach finally paid off as the champions exited the ring and made their way through the crowd, celebrating with the people who made them. While the former champions were helped to the back (amidst a smattering of applause out of respect for the effort they showed), Johnson & Seeka mingled with the people who never doubted them, who always cheered them and who, in their opinion, deserved as much credit for the title win as they did.

Now, whatever challengers step up must realise that the new champions "got this" and aren't going to be letting it go anytime soon.
