Dr. Death-DiBiase Feud Reborn In Asylum Championship Wrestling
Posted: Jul 22nd 2008 By: CMBurnham
Wrestling Historians, especially in the Mid South region might very cleary remember the most dominant UWF Tag Team Champions in UWF's brief, yet storied history, "Dr. Death" Steve Williams & Ted DiBiase. No personal heat between the two champions was ever brought to television, but in the crowd was a small boy boiling over with hate. That boy was Mike DiBiase. "Dr. Death" was "Uncle Doc" to Mike and the other DiBiase boys, and in some ways was as close as family, but young Mike secretly despised "Dr. Death". On July 18th in Colorado Springs, CO for the Asylum Championship Wrestling event held at the Expo Center, Mike DiBiase made his debut on the same night "Dr. Death" Steve Williams was handling his business with The Pastor Kenneth Campbell. After beating Campbell, "Dr. Death" found himself on the receiving end of a double beat down from Campbell and his henchman Brother Luc Stecher. Out of nowhere Mike DiBiase levelled and ran off both of them saving "Dr. Death" from any further damage. Doc recovered to his feet and went to pull Mike in for a hug, but Mike pushed him away. The fans in attendance knew right off the bat that there was certainly an issue on Mike DiBiase's mind that he was going to address, and when he started speaking the mood got very uncomfortable below the Pikes Peak horizon in the background. Mike told Doc a story stemming from the old UWF days, when his father (later the Million Dollar Man) Ted DiBiase was always the one rescuing "Dr. Death" from countless beat downs while Doc came up short on returning the favor on more than one occassion. Mike said he would stand in the crowd crying his eyes out waiting for Doc to save his father, but nothing. Then after the painful saga DiBiase slapped the face of Steve Williams. Doc has been unavailable for comment thus far, but we're sure he'll have a reply of some sorts on Saturday August 16th in Colorado Springs when ACW pits the two of them together in what might be the most heated match in ACW history. Live at The Expo Center, Saturday Night, August 16th, 2008, Dr. Death Steve Williams vs. The Third Generation Superstar Mike DiBiase. No matter where you are, this one is worth the trip.
