The band back together: Zorthos & Donderwitz are picking up where they left off
Posted: Jun 24th 2008 By: mikeiles
During the early part of the IZW show this past Saturday, a video was shown on the ZorthoTron 420 with Jermaine Johnson storming into the Impact, Inc. locker room to confront Bernie Donderwitz. Johnson was livid that Bernie D stabbed his so called best friend Gary Tool in the back at "Evolution". After both Johnny Z and Bernie D berated the rookie, the IZW Tag Team Champs Nathan Sensation & Striker walked in to throw in their 2 cents on the matter. The argument escalated until it was broken up by IZW Commissioner Mike Iles. The commish said he was mad about Bernie D selling Tool down the river so he could "be Johnny Z's bitch again" but he told Sensation & Striker they had a match later against The New Age Syndicate and removed them from the locker room. But Johnson wasn't finished and wanted a match with Donderwitz. It wasn't until Johnson slapped Bernie D that the match was accepted.
The crowd was solidly behind Johnson and although he was outweighed by Donderwitz and outnumbered because Johnny Z was at ringside, Johnson fought valiantly "in the name of Coach Tool" as he had told Impact, Inc. earlier. But the veteran Donderwitz used his ring savvy and after a Sky High, picked up the win. Then both Bernie D & Johnny Z attacked Johnson until Sensation & Striker made the save.
Later in the night, after Sensation & Striker successfully defended the IZW Tag Team Titles against New Age Syndicate, Zorthos & Donderwitz stormed the ring to attack all 4 wrestlers. They grabbed the Kendo Stick that was at ringside and hit both teams. Zorthos then said that Striker & Sensation had something that belonged to Impact, Inc. and that was the Tag Team Titles. Zorthos then told NAS they could "take their stick and go home" and then fired them from IZW. After the show, Commissioner Iles was talking with fans and said that NAS was indeed fired because as owner of IZW, Zorthos can fire anyone on the roster he sees fit.
It is true that Zorthos & Donderwitz did not lose the IZW Tag Team Titles as a team. It was Zorthos himself that lost the titles in a Handicap Match on February 16th of this year. Zorthos & Donderwitz are the most decorated tag team in IZW history holding the belts 4 different times. Striker & Sensation are the most successful over the last year holding the belts 3 different times. It is looking like the 2 best tag team in IZW history are about to collide!
Other News & Notes from the IZW show:
The opening match saw Dustin Heritage defeat Austin Tacious. Heritage was limping at the end of the match and during intermission. Tacious, while showing signs of brillance, has yet to really get over the hump here in Oklahoma.
Kenny Campbell successfully defended his newly won Impact Division Title against John O'Malley, but received assistance from Randy Price, who continues to hound O'Malley.
After Price attacked O'Malley he was shown on the ZorthoTron 420 rushing to pack his belongings to leave. As he turned around he came face to face with IZW Commissioner Mike Iles, who was standing there mockingly applauding. He asked Price if he was happy with himself. Price said that he was undefeated in his young career until Iles put him in a No DQ Match against O'Malley at "Evolution" which gave O'Malley carte blanche to do whatever he wanted to do in the match. Price said it was unfair, and surprisingly Iles agreed. He then gave Price a title shot against IZW Heavyweight Champion Angel Williams. The champ beat Price from pillar to post and easily picked up the win.
IZW has wrestling each and every Saturday night at The Impact Arena at 5325 S. Pennsylvania Ave. in Oklahoma City. That is just a few miles north of I-240 on Penn. Admission is just $5 and that is the best value for your wrestling dollar. Don't miss it!
