Forecast: 100% chance for Snow; Williams now focused on "Evolution"

Forecast: 100% chance for Snow; Williams now focused on "Evolution"

Posted: Jun 10th 2008 By: mikeiles

Angel Williams will be IZW Heavyweight Champion one day shy of 3 months when "Evolution" happens this Saturday. He has mowed through the competition. But this Saturday his faces his stiffest competition yet.

Last weekend's IZW show started with ring announcer Jesse Storm running down the matches for "Evolution" and for that night's show. He then introduced IZW Commissioner Mike Iles who came out with a black bag, which he handed to Storm as he entered the ring. Iles proceeded to say that due to recent circumstances he had made an executive decision. He then introduced Williams. Iles told the champion that because Michael Barry had stolen the IZW Heavyweight Title from Williams, he did something that should have been done a long time ago. He then said that because IZW owner John Zorthos had put the company on the line in a match at "Evolution", Iles had power of attorney and access to company funds. He said he had a new IZW Heavyweight Title made and removed it from the bag and handed it over to Williams. Among the cheers of the fans, Angel thanked the commish but then said he wanted a piece of Michael Barry to right what went wrong. Iles reminded Angel that in one week he would be facing Al Snow and due to Snow's wrestling connections it could lead to bigger and better things for Angel. After much contemplation, Angel relented and agreed saying Al Snow was his main focus but after "Evolution" he was coming after Barry.

Iles then had another surprise for Angel. He said that the previous week, someone came out wearing an orange singlet that was too big, a pair of boots that were too big, and wearing a bald cap trying to impersonate Angel. Iles announced that for one night only, that person was the #1 contender to the IZW Title and granted him a title shot. He then introduced the impersonator, Ronnie Storm. Angel made quick work of him.

Then some music began and we heard a familiar voice asking "What does everybody want?"

But it wasn't Al Snow. It was Michael Barry carrying a mannequin head, wearing his hair and facial hair similar to Al Snow's. And he was wearing the former IZW Heavyweight Title. He asked Angel if emulating Al Snow was what he was going to have to do to get Angel's attention. As Barry entered the ring, out came Commissioner Iles again. Just as Williams and Barry were about to square off, Iles told Angel that if he hit Barry, he would have to call off the match against Al Snow. Angel was seething with his fist clenched as Barry taunted the champ to hit him. Iles kept talking to Angel telling to him he shouldn't blow his chance at Al Snow. Angel left the ring and now it was time for Barry to be pissed. Iles then told Barry if he came in physical contact with Williams before the "Evolution" main event, he would suspend Barry indefinitely.

So the stage is set. IZW Heavyweight Champion Angel Williams defends the title this Saturday at "Evolution" against former WWE superstar Al Snow. Williams is in for his toughest test since winning the title.

Other News & Notes from the IZW show:
A video was shown with Commissioner Iles in his office and he was interrupted by Se7en who complained that two weeks prior, Tyson Jaymes interfered in his match causing him to lose. Iles asked if Se7en remembered interfering in Tyson's match the same night, which to no one's surprise, he didn't recall. Se7en said he wanted Tyson Jaymes at "Evolution". Iles said he was more than happy to oblige as Tyson had been calling the commish asking the same thing. Iles then said that he was going to put Se7en and Tyson in a tag team match that night as well, but on opposite sides of course. Se7en was paired with "Mr. Money" Randy Price while Tyson was paired with "The Juggernaut" John O'Malley. When O'Malley was in the ring, Price bailed out. The same went for Se7en when Tyson tagged in. The end came with Se7en and Price getting the win, but again it came at a cost for Price. O'Malley grabbed a ring hook and hit Price with it. Out came Commissioner Iles again, and Price thought he would finally get some sort of justice over O'Malley. But it was not to be. Iles said that most, if not all, of Price's victory in his young career have been questionable at best. He then setup a No DQ Match pitting Price against O'Malley. This pleased the fans in attendance and O'Malley, while Price left with his tail between his legs.

Michael Barry continued his Al Snow impersonation in his match with Nathan Sensation, who was accompanied to the ring by Brieanna Bringle. Barry talked to the mannequin head much like Snow has during his career. At one point, Barry also manhandled Bringle proceeding to choke her. Sensation fell victim to a head shot to the head (mannequin head to Nathan's head that is) and Barry picked up the win.

Dustin Heritage & Jermaine Johnson got a chance of a lifetime as they faced the IZW Tag Team Champions The New Age Syndicate. However, Heritage & Johnson could not get on the same page which isn't surprising since they are 2 of the entrants in the Ladder Match for the Impact Division Title at "Evolution". The veteran NAS took out the youngsters as the tag champs look towards their Kendo Stick On A Pole Match at "Evolution" against Nathan Sensation & Striker.

John Zorthos came out towards the end of the show and spoke to the fans and Gary Tool & Bernie Donderwitz. Tool & Donderwitz were not in the building nor was Johnny Z's best friend Bad Brad Michaels, but a video aired of Michaels saying he was keeping a close eye on IZW and Tool's pregnant wife Pearl. After the video, Zorthos promised that he and Michaels would not lose the Lumberjack Match which means he would not give up control of IZW and Gary Tool would be forced to retire.

Another video had aired earlier in the evening after Iles had announced the No DQ Match between Price and O'Malley. Iles came back to his office and found John Zorthos at the desk. Iles asked what Johnny Z was doing there and surprisingly John said that he wanted to say that begrudgingly, Iles had setup a good card, top to bottom, for "Evolution". Iles accepted the praise although rather suspiciously. But he said he was glad Johnny Z was there because he wanted to tell him in person that he was changing the Ladder Match from a Four Way to a Five Way to include the recently reinstated Mitch Carter. Zorthos said that if Carter could defeat Kenny Campbell and Seth Allen in a Handicap Match, then Carter could be inserted into the match. Campbell and Allen were poised to make sure Carter did not get into the match. Carter won the match after getting some assistance from Heritage & Johnson. After Carter was announced as winner, he then dropped Johnson and Heritage with his Carter Climax finisher and the show came to an end.

The card for "Evolution" is stacked from top to bottom. Admission is just $5 and as always that is the best value for your wrestling dollar. This Saturday will be the biggest show for IZW all year if not ever. And it all emanates from The Impact Arena at 5325 S. Penn Ave. in Oklahoma City. That's just a couple of miles north of I-240 on Penn. Be sure to check it out!

IZW...FEEL THE IMPACT!!!
