No more mask! Carter reinstated to IZW roster!
Posted: May 20th 2008 By: mikeiles
Mitch Carter left IZW on his own accord in September 2007. After leaving IZW, Carter began wrestling outside the state of Oklahoma in feds in Texas and in Arkansas. He even flirted with retirement for a while. But he started getting the "itch" once again and wanted to return to his home state and the place where he had the most success. That place was IZW.
The problem with that scenario was John Zorthos, who felt that Carter had abandoned the company. Mitch showed up asking for his job and Zorthos denied him. But Mitch had a plan and a friend that could help him. That friend just happened to be the newly named commissioner of IZW, Mike Iles. It is no secret around Oklahoma wrestling that Iles and Carter are friends and have been for some time. They are also frequent travel partners to and from shows in Arkansas. But no matter how much clout Iles had, the answer from Johnny Z was always no in regards to Carter's reinstatement. After losing a Ladder Match to Zorthos at "March Mayhem", Carter was banned from IZW forever.
On April 26th, two new superstars were introduced to IZW. They were both introduced to the IZW crowd by Commissioner Iles who claimed he had discovered them both while on vacation. The masked man that made his debut was named "The Border Bandit" Philliberto Marco, and was a luchador from Mexico. But his athletic build, demeanor, and style of wrestling was oddly familiar. He defeated Austin Tacious in his IZW debut, then two weeks later defeated Tacious again.
This past Saturday, a video was aired immediately after intermission showing Philliberto Marco and Commissioner Iles in one of the offices in The Impact Arena. In walks John Zorthos who coyly asked what was going on. Iles explained that Marco had flown in from Mexico and after taking him to J. R.'s Family Bar-B-Q and then over to Steve & Barry's, they arrived at the arena and were just hanging out. Zorthos said this was a complete crock and demanded that Marco remove his mask and reveal himself as Mitch Carter. He said that he would send videos of matches of Mitch Carter and Marco to the Boxing Commission and it would show inconclusive evidence that it was Carter under the hood, and Iles was in on the chicanery. The mask was removed and it was in fact Mitch Carter. Iles proposed that Johnny Z and Carter face one more time in any match of Johnny Z's choosing and if Carter won he would reinstated as a member of the IZW roster. Iles then upped the stakes by adding if Zorthos won, Carter would be still be banned and Iles himself would quit his job as IZW Commissioner. Zorthos accepted and said he wanted a tag team match with Carter and Iles. After much reluctance, Iles and Carter accepted.
Zorthos came to the ring and announced that it was a No DQ Match and his partner was none other than one of his Impact, Inc. partners Tommy Revell, who had not been seen in IZW since losing the IZW Heavyweight Title to Angel Williams at "March Mayhem". Impact, Inc. kept Carter in the ring throughout the match. While Carter had some moments to shine, he was out matched as he did not have an experienced wrestler as his partner. After 2 Gamma Bomb slams, Revell tagged in Zorthos who appeared to have put the exclamation point on the match with a DDT. He covered Carter, but pulled him up at 2. He then threw Carter into the corner occupied by Iles and demanded he tag in. Iles did tag in. Although he hip tossed both Zorthos & Revell and clotheslined both of them, he was eventually on the wrong end of a beatdown. As Revell readied himself to powerbomb Iles, Gary Tool ran out and clocked Revell with a chair. After a second chair shot, Tool delivered a thunderous Frog Splash on Revell, then rolled Iles over to get the 3 count.
Than fans roared their approval (well except for Crazy Charlie who said Iles still had his day coming) and they even started a "Welcome Back Mitch" chant as the show came to a close.
Other News & Notes from the IZW show:
The mind games between John Zorthos and Gary Tool continue. Zorthos continues to hound Tool's family, most notably Tool's wife. When Tool came in with a chair in the main event to help Mitch Carter & Mike Iles, Zorthos scattered like a scared mouse. Eventually the mind games have to stop and Tool & Zorthos will collide in the ring.
The first match of the night featured Dustin Heritage vs. Jermaine Johnson. Heritage & Johnson are 2 of the 4 participants in the Ladder Match for the vacant IZW Impact Division Title. The other 2 Ladder Match participants, Seth Allen & Kenny Campbell interfered in the match attacking both men causing a No-Contest. Later in the night, Campbell & Allen were wrestling a match and Allen picked up the win, but then both were attacked by Heritage & Johnson. After the attack, Johnson then turned on Heritage as well. There is no love lost between the 4 Ladder Match participants.
Tyson Jaymes and Se7en were forced to tag by IZW Commissioner Mike Iles. They faced the IZW Tag Team Champions The New Age Syndicate and the titles were on the line. But apparently it meant more to Se7en to turn on his partner and leave him laying on the mat then tag team gold.
Randy Price continued his winning ways by defeating Nathan Sensation. But he did receive some assistance from The New Age Syndicate who came out and distracted Sensation allowing Price to pick up the victory.
Commissioner Iles was a busy man on Saturday. He was announced that former WWE superstar Al Snow wanted to take on the best IZW had to offer. He wanted a shot at IZW Heavyweight Champion Angel Williams, who gladly accepted the match. After they finished the interview, the music for Austin Tacious began. He entered the ring and threw out a challenge of his own. He wanted a shot at "The Widowmaker" and the IZW Title. Williams gave the newcomer a match and defeated him. Reportedly, Tacious went to the hospital after the show and had fractured his cheek in the match.
IZW continues on its path to "Evolution" this Saturday at The Impact Arena at 5325 S. Penn just a few miles north of I-240. Admission is just $5. Come on out and see why IZW is the best value for your wrestling dollar. You can also purchase your tickets for "Evolution" as well and they are also only $5. Matches for "Evolution" already include the Ladder Match for the vacant Impact Division Title, the Kendo Stick On A Pole Match for the Tag Team Titles, and now Angel Williams vs. Al Snow for the Heavyweight Title.
