Draven Cross Devours The Competition One At A Time

He's one of the most imposing sights in the Oklahoma indy wrestling scene. At 6'4" and around 400 lbs, Draven Cross in impossible to ignore. While most of his success so far has been in the tag team area, Draven's recent arrival in ComPro suggests he wants to add singles gold to his resume.

Draven was a strong player in TPW, ComPro's predecessor, for about 2 years. After entering the scene and getting a feel for the competition, he formed an alliance with Justin Lee and Poo Bear as the Violence Alliance. They never won the TPW Tag Team Titles, but they were quick to protect Justin when he became the TPW Oklahoma Champion.

While working in Tulsa with the Violence Alliance, Draven formed the largest tag team in Oklahoma history when he allied with 3rd Rail as part of the House of Strange. This pair eventually won the MSWA Mid-South Tag Team Titles and on the surface, it appeared there was no way anyone could beat them. But they only held those belts for a month, losing them back to the team they won them from: The Real Impact Players.

In the closing days of TPW, Rail & Cross, now christened Apocalypse, arrived in TPW with the Shadow of Death as their manager. Most observers believed they would quickly swallow up the TPW Tag Team Titles, but they never got the chance as TPW closed shortly after Apocalypse made their debut.

Cross continued to perform in MSWA, replacing Halo as part of the New Forsaken with Michael Faith. They were seeded high in the MSWA Mid-South Tag Team Tournament to determine the #1 contenders to then champions Bad Boy & Outlaw, but then both men disappeared. Faith moved on to perform in Texas and Louisiana and Cross completely disappeared from the wrestling scene. For over a year, wrestling's version of Godzilla seemed to have gone back into hibernation.

If that was the case, then the giant awoke, refreshed and hungry, on April 12, when he made his entrance to ComPro and annhilated Sudden Impact 2. Never one to be verbal, Cross continued his path of destruction over the next few weeks with victories over Rico Suave and The Greatest Bolo. Again, he let his actions speak for him in the ring. And neither of these opponents provided much competition for him.

That wasn't the case this past week as he faced off against 1/2 of the ComPro Tag Team Champions, The Canadian Luchadore. Although the Shadow of Death was not at ringside for the masked Canadian, it seems quite likely that he provided his recent charge with a wealth of information about Draven from their past association. This allowed the Luchadore to put up a better fight than any of Draven's other opponents, but ultimately the result was the same: another victim notched on the belt of the behemoth.

Draven seems to be taking a Goldberg-esque approach since his return to ComPro, working his way up from the bottom and destroying all competition. And since he's doing it alone, the ultimate target also appears to be the ComPro Championship and its current holder, Romero Contreras. While Romero is also physically dominant, he has yet to face this monstrosity in a 1-on-1 situation. When that happens, ComPro suggests reinforcing the ring as Godzilla will be meeting King Kong. And ComPro may not be left standing when it's all over.
