Charlie Haas returns to WWE TV

Charlie Haas returns to WWE TV

Posted: Apr 18th 2006 By: oklastaff

Edmond, OK native Charlie Haas made a triumphant return to WWE television at the Savvis Center in St. Louis, MO on the April 17th edition of WWE Raw.

Haas re-signed with WWE in late December 2005 while his wife, Jackie Gayda, is now part of a major storyline in TNA. Haas has been wrestling several independent shows since he was released from WWE in July 2005, including the last two shows for NWA Universal in August of the same year. Haas has also competed for several independent wrestling federations including Texas Pro Wrestling Alliance and Professional Championship Wrestling both based in the Dallas metroplex area, which is where Haas and Gayda both currently reside. Haas also competed in ECWA Super 8 Tournament, losing in the finals to Danny Daniels.

Since being re-signed by WWE, Haas has been wrestling in Louisville, KY in Ohio Valley Wrestling, the WWE developmental organization, apparently fine tuning his skills for a WWE return.

That return turned out to be against his former tag team partner Shelton Benjamin. After moving out of the way of Benjamin's attempted Frog Splash, Haas rolled Benjamin up to get the win. Because of Benjamin's loss to Haas, Benjamin will now have to defend the WWE Intercontinental Title against Rob Van Dam at Backlash, the next WWE pay-per-view for Raw. No word as of yet if Haas will continue on Raw or if the appearance was a one-shot match.

Haas and Benjamin began their WWE careers as members of Team Angle. They held the Smackdown version of the WWE Tag Team Titles on two occassions and were known as The World's Greatest Tag Team.
