Shawn Michaels and AJ Styles consulted on WWE John Cena Classic

Posted: Oct 30th 2026 By: Ian Carey

WWE has reportedly consulted Shawn Michaels and AJ Styles regarding the John Cena Classic.

According to a WrestleVotes Radio on Fightful Select report published on Thursday, WWE has held multiple meetings and creative discussions regarding the event, with the company wanting it to look and feel fresh.

The report notes that Michaels and Styles were among several people consulted who do not typically have input on projects like this.

The report also states that while the event was originally pitched as a “showcase and a milestone program for Club WWE,” a source indicated that it will likely stream elsewhere as well.

Both Styles and Michaels were also the subject of reports on Thursday regarding Bruce Prichard’s role in WWE creative, with PWInsider reporting Michaels is expected to assume Prichard’s role and False Finish reporting that people within the Performance Center expect Styles to become more hands-on with NXT.

The John Cena Classic is believed to be taking place in December, although WWE has not officially announced a date or location.

Cena is scheduled to appear on Monday’s Raw from Brooklyn, where he has teased revealing more details about the event. Cena is also scheduled for the November 4 edition of NXT, which is set to go head-to-head with AEW Blood & Guts.
