Ric Flair hospitalized after ‘bleeding extensively’ from fall

Ric Flair was taken to the hospital after suffering a fall outside of a Tampa, Florida restaurant on Friday.

TMZ reports that Flair “suddenly fell and injured his face” after he got up from the bar and walked across the street. The article from TMZ includes photos of medics tending to Flair, whose eye was “bleeding extensively.” Flair cut his head and eye open in the fall and may have suffered a concussion, though no details about his condition past that are mentioned. He was taken to the hospital by ambulance

Sources with direct knowledge tell TMZ … Ric was hanging at Wagamama in Tampa this morning when he got up from the bar, leaving his phone and drink behind and walking across the street. While outside, our sources say Ric suddenly fell and injured his face. A photo TMZ has obtained shows emergency medical personnel gathered around Ric. We’re told Ric cut his head and eye open during the fall … and his eye was bleeding extensively. He may also have a concussion.

Ric Flair was originally supposed to be in the Seattle area this weekend —

The 77-year-old Flair was supposed to be across the country for a convention in Washington state this weekend, but he announced earlier today that he would not be able to make the event. Flair has been dealing with a blood clot in his leg, and he’s been advised to avoid traveling more than 3-4 hours at a time. The issue has been going on since at least the summer, when Flair also had to cancel a Cauliflower Alley Club in Las Vegas appearance because of it.

While announcing he couldn’t attend the Washington State Horror Con, Flair apologized to the fans and everyone involved and said he’d see them down the road. He noted that he was focused on getting healthy and was scheduled to undergo a procedure to strip the affected vein at some point soon.

One of the greatest wrestlers of all time, Flair is under contract with AEW despite rarely having any duties for the promotion. His daughter Charlotte Flair is a top star in WWE.
