Jim Ross hospitalized due to low oxygen

Posted: Oct 14th 2026 By: Joseph Currier

Less than a week after undergoing brain surgery, Jim Ross is back in the hospital.

The 74-year-old Ross sent out a tweet last night informing fans that he’s been hospitalized due to low oxygen. It’s been a very difficult time health-wise for Ross, who has now undergone two brain surgeries, is recovering from a couple of broken toes he suffered in an August, and has been in an out of various doctor’s appointments for other issues.

“Back in the hospital due to low oxygen. Weighed 198. Need a break,” Ross posted on Monday night.

Ross’ second brain surgery was performed on October 7, and it was noted that everything went well. The surgery was to address an issue with the shunt that was inserted into Ross’ brain during his initial procedure in August. Though the shunt was greatly helping with Ross’ balance issues, he started to have blistering headaches. A CT scan showed bleeding, which necessitated the second surgery.

The shunt drains excess fluid from the brain to other parts of the body.

Jim Ross grateful amid health challenges —

On a recent episode of his Grilling JR podcast, Ross said his daughter has been a “wonderful asset” during the health challenges he’s faced. She is a licensed physician assistant and has been able to help guide him through some of the things that are going on. She visits Ross once a week and calls him on the days that she doesn’t.

Ross is staying optimistic despite all he’s going through. He’s hoping to get back to his AEW commentary role when his health allows. And while the constant barrage of doctor’s appointments is challenging, it’s reminded Ross to be grateful. There’s always someone at the doctor going through a more difficult health battle than he is.
