Update on Walker Stewart’s NJPW, AEW, Stardom status

Posted: Sep 19th 2026 By: Joseph Currier

After re-upping with NJPW, English-language commentator Walker Stewart has provided some further clarification on his contract status and how often we might be seeing him cross over into AEW.

Stewart announced earlier this week that he’s extended his NJPW contract and will continue to provide English commentary for the promotion alongside Chris Charlton. In addition to that, Stewart will keep up his Stardom duties and appear for AEW on a limited basis.

Self Made Pro Wrestling interviewed Stewart following the announcement, and he told them that his NJPW and Stardom deals are both full time. His new NJPW deal runs until January 2029, and his Stardom contract runs until June 2027. His AEW commentary will be done on a per-appearance basis, with Stewart telling Self Made that AEW fans can expect to see him once or twice per month.

When Stewart broke the news of his new NJPW deal, he stated that he’s already confirmed a few AEW appearances for the remainder of 2026 and will have more appearances to come into 2027. He did commentary on a Collision episode earlier this month.

Stardom adds second English-language commentator —

To go along with Stewart, Stardom has added voice actor Jimbo Bonji to its English-language team. They will be spliting duties and occasionally calling shows together. Stewart, who was named Stardom’s Director of Global PR And Communications in 2025, remains with the promotion despite NJPW and Stardom no longer being owned by the same parent company.
