Memphis wrestling legend Bill Dundee dies at 82

Memphis wrestling legend Bill Dundee has died.

News of the 82-year-old’s passing was announced by his son, Jamie Dundee, on Facebook on Sunday.

Jamie Dundee wrote:

“With a heavy heart ot hurts me to have to say this …At 330 this morning the SUPERSTSR BILL DUNDEE has passed away …I love you Dad illl catch you on the OTHERSIDE……..
REST IN PIECE SUPERSTAR …
Love Bill’s Boy
Jamie Caird (pimpsker)”

In 2023, Jamie Dundee revealed on Dutch Mantell’s podcast that his father was suffering from stage-three dementia.

Dundee was one of the biggest stars in the history of Memphis wrestling and a longtime rival and tag partner of Jerry Lawler. He was inducted into the Memphis Wrestling Hall of Fame as part of its 2017 class.

Memphis Wrestling honored Dundee on its September 5, 2026 episode, which aired one day before his death. Announcer Dustin Starr introduced Dundee on the episode, saying:

“A man who spent nearly his entire career main eventing for the Southern Heavyweight Championship at Mid-South Coliseum against the King Jerry Lawler. Now for the first time ever, Superstar Bill Dundee is here live at the Wrestle Center. Ladies and gentlemen, I know a lot of men and women in that locker room that want to come out here and say thank you to the superstar himself. And here they come.”

As Dundee came out, he was greeted by members of the Memphis Wrestling roster, who lined up to shake his hand.

“All the best superstars of Memphis Wrestling were inspired at one time or another by Superstar Bill Dundee. Whether it was in Memphis Wrestling, USWA, Power Pro Wrestling, WCW, one thing remained the same. This man is a legend.”
