3...2...1...Contact!! C. B. C. Has "Bling" Again

Posted: Mar 6th 2008 By: CMBurnham

In 2004, Tulsa-area wrestling fans were treated to an amusing character by the name of Poo Bear. Not the most physically fit or athletic performer, Poo was certainly one of the more popular ones at the beginning of his career. He came to the ring wearing pajamas, wearing an afro-style wig and talked about having "bling-bling", which was represented by the gold chains he wore around his neck. He even brought a "pimp-stick" before they were called such things.

Times changed and this performer did too. Eventually tiring of being the fun-loving soul, he turned on the fans and joined the Violence Alliance. He came back to the fans' side briefly and formed a tag team with Rico Suave known as the Compound Playas, but that dissolved pretty quickly and Poo again found himself hearing the books.

Then came the COMPOUND era and when Poo arrived at the ComPro Arena in 2007, he had a new name: Cold Blooded Chris (C. B. C. for short). His attitude was still the same though. No fun. All yelling. And he and Shane Morbid formed a powerful duo, looking to win the ComPro Tag Team Titles. That never happened and Morbid, along with his manager Boss Campbell, placed the blame for their lack of success squarely on the shoulders of C. B. C. ICF crumbled apart and Shane Morbid went on to start the year by winning the ComPro Oklahoma X Division Title for the second time.

Shane probably never expected to see C. B. C. make a serious challenge for that title. Even Shane pushes the limits as far as the typical X Division wrestler. But C. B. C. shatters all those expectations. Nonetheless, C. B. C. was determined to prove that it wasn't a joke when he won a #1 contenders match on January 19th. He received his X Division Title match the next week, but was unable to capture the title and many fans thought that Shane would move on to the next challenger. But C. B. C. wouldn't let his dreams be shattered that quickly.

On February 9, C. B. C. set out to prove himself worthy of another shot by beating 3 other men. He faced The Canadian Luchadore, Bernard Funk (himself a former ComPro Oklahoma X Division Champion) and then-current champion Shane Morbid in a 4-Way Elimination Match. C. B. C. got the win when he pinned the champion in the middle of the ring. The following week, C. B. C. again faced Shane Morbid, but this time it would be a Triple Threat Match and the 3rd man would be FCW Champion The Canadian Red Devil. Despite some shenanigans on the part of Shane with baby oil, C. B. C. defeated 2 other men and once again pinned the champion in the ring, making him believe that the next week, it would be 1-on-1.

But Shane didn't make it to the show the next week. Instead, he sent Boss Campbell to inform everyone that Shane was suffering from a severe case of the gout and was unable to wrestle C. B. C. that week. C. B. C. did not take this well and assaulted Campbell, eventually standing on the fallen manager's chest. And leave it to ComPro commissioner Kitty to make sure it was understood that on March 1, Shane Morbid would be forced to appear and defend his title against C. B. C.

And so the night arrived. C. B. C. came out first, followed by the champion and his manager. It was a quick paced, but still hard-hitting match. At one point, C. B. C. threw Morbid into the ring announcer's table (freshly replaced from its destruction the previous week at the hands of AWOL and FCW Tag Team Champion Romero Contreras) and Morbid came up with a crimson mask covering his features. But this only served to fire Shane up and he took his aggression out on the challenger. Nothing seemed to keep the big man down, though. Stiff kicks, punches, senton splashes...C. B. C. kept coming back up from all of it. Then, a quick motion from Morbid and Boss Campbell got a chair from ringside. He brought it up on the ring apron while Shane held C. B. C. All of this was done in front of referee Mike Two, perhaps in hopes of earning a disqualification. But Campbell misfired, hitting Shane on the head and the referee overlooked the DQ, instead giving the fans what they wanted by counting 3 as an exhausted C. B. C. fell on Morbid for the win.

And so began the reign of the largest X Division Champion in Oklahoma history. At over 400 lbs, he will certainly have trouble matching speed and agility with the challengers who populate this field. But his sheer size and mass will make it difficult for the lighter wrestlers to get him off his feet. All of that seems unimportant to him, though. At this point, he's just happy to be a champion again.

He's got his "bling-bling" back.
