Jim Ross: Tony Khan has been ‘a blessing in my life’

Jim Ross feels blessed to have AEW boss Tony Khan in his life.
While speaking on his Grilling JR podcast this week, Ross praised the AEW roster and expressed his belief that the promotion will continue to grow. The 74-year-old Ross wishes he could be more help to the promotion, but his health issues have been a barrier to that. He appreciates how much Khan has supported him during his health battles.
“I’m obviously pulling for them. They’re paying me,” Ross said about AEW. “Tony Khan’s been a blessing in my life. And I certainly appreciate his support. You know, I wish I could be more help and I wish I could do more. And I’m working on that.”
Getting sick “every f***ing week or two” has been difficult for Ross. He’s amazed whenever he looks at just how many doctor’s appointments he has coming up. But Ross is staying optimistic that the brain surgery he’ll be undergoing in August will help the situation. The surgery is to remove excess fluid on Ross’ brain, and the operation should help with Ross’ memory and balance issues.
Jim Ross hoping for AEW All In return —
Ideally, Ross wants to make the trip to London for AEW All In at the end of August. The show is happening after his surgery date. Before the operation, Ross is appearing at WrestleCon in Minneapolis this weekend.
Ross’ AEW contract has been set to expire at some point in August. The trend has been for AEW and Ross to agree to new short-term deals whenever his contract is up. He signed a one-year contract in summer 2025.
