WWE Hall of Famer Ted DiBiase has candidly criticized his 1990 match against The Ultimate Warrior, held at the WWF/New Japan Pro Wrestling/All Japan Pro Wrestling “Wrestling Summit” in Tokyo, Japan describing the experience as “horrible”. DiBiase discussed his match with Warrior at the 1990 event during an episode of his podcast, “Everybody’s Got a Pod”. The match, taped on April 13, 1990, was Warrior’s first recorded WWF Championship defense following his iconic victory over Hulk Hogan at “WrestleMania VI”. However, it aired after his April 23, 1990 defense against Haku. “Oh, it was horrible,” DiBiase said. “I’ll be the first one to tell you it was horrible. Number one, we’re in Japan, and the other thing is, in Japan, I’m already, to the Japanese wrestling fan, an established star, but a lot of these other guys, it’s the first time they’re being seen live in Japan, and again, The Ultimate Warrior, he couldn’t wrestle.” DiBiase did not mince words when addressing Warrior’s in-ring shortcomings, noting how difficult it was to produce a quality bout with him. “It was extremely hard to even have or try to have a good match with him, and for that reason, we didn’t go very long.” DiBiase also expressed frustration about being booked to lose in such a short match against Warrior, particularly in front of an international audience. “That was the thing that really pissed me off, but there was nothing I could do about it,” he said. “For me, an existing star to have to do a job for that guy and do it in seven minutes, because he didn’t care about anybody else but himself… I pretty much didn’t care to have a much longer match, because the longer it was, the worse it would be. I don’t think he had a long match with anybody.”

Recent WWE Vault additions include D-Generation X (Shawn Michaels & Triple H) vs. Jeri-Show (Chris Jericho & The Big Show) in a Tables, Ladders, & Chairs Match from “TLC: Tables, Ladders & Chairs” in 2009, and ECW Originals (Rhyno, Tommy Dreamer, and The Dudley Boyz [Bubba Ray Dudley & D-Von Dudley]) vs. The Wyatt Family (Bray Wyatt, Braun Strowman, Erick Rowan, & Luke Harper) in an 8-Man Elimination Tables Match from “TLC: Tables, Ladders & Chairs” in 2015.

During the broadcast of WWE’s “Saturday Night’s Main Event” on December 13th and before the final match of John Cena, Michael Cole gave a nod to his broadcast colleagues who are no longer working with WWE but also served a very important voice during John Cena’s career. Cole mentioned John “Bradshaw” Layfield, who apart from having a fierce rivalry with Cena, was also calling his matches on “SmackDown” and pay-per-views, coming up with the term “big match John.” The voice of WWE then mentioned Tazz, who did commentary on “SmackDown” with Cole during Cena’s rise, as well as WWE Hall of Famers Jerry “The King” Lawler and the one and only Jim Ross. Corey Graves, who still works the booth on “SmackDown”, also got a nod. Both Tazz and Jim Ross currently work for AEW.

Todd Grisham recently recalled once being yelled at by Vince McMahon because he said John Morrison loved poetry: “Vince McMahon went insane on me one time because I said that John Morrison, who was a heel at the time, loved poetry. Normally, I wouldn’t say that, but there was a new WWE magazine. They just transformed it from being like a results-based boring magazine to more of a Maxim-style, lifestyle magazine, get to know the superstars better. So they’re like, ‘Anytime you can incorporate stuff from the magazine, do it. It helps sell the magazine. It helps tell their story. It syncs everything up.’ So they did a whole thing on John Morrison. His finisher was called Starship Pain, so he wrote a poem called Starship Pain. He’s in the ring and I go, ‘John Morrison, Starship Pain, he’s a big fan of poetry, and wrote a poem about the finisher Starship Pain.’ Vince goes insane in my ear. ‘Did you just say that our number one heel is an effing poet?! You stupid F! What the f*ck?! Shut up! Just shut up! Don’t say anything else! Jim Ross, you call the rest of this fight! I don’t wanna hear another effing word out of you!’ So literally, the match starts and I don’t say a single word for like five minutes. Then the match ends, and we gotta do a promo going to the next fight, and he goes, ‘Okay, you can talk now.’” Todd Grisham also recalled once being told by Vince McMahon to interrupt Jim Ross in Oklahoma and tell him he’s being fired: “Vince hated Jim Ross for whatever reason. He fired him 10 times. One show, it was in Oklahoma in front of his home crowd. The show ended and they were going to have Jim Ross speak to the crowd. So, Jim Ross is in the ring and Vince tells me, ‘Grab a mic and go down there.’ He gave me some questions to ask. So I go down there, ‘Sorry to interrupt you, J. R., in front of the crowd, but how does it feel to be getting released by WWE and fired by Vince McMahon because he just doesn't think you're that good?’ And all these antagonizing things. Jim Ross looked at me and goes, ‘Can I please have the microphone?’ And I'm thinking Vince is gonna kill me if I give him the mic, but I was like, I just handed him the mic. I'm not gonna do it, and I'll take the abuse. And J. R. went and said, ‘I know those weren't your questions. Those were his.’”

WWE Hall of Famer Mick Foley has long been outspoken about his opposition to U.S. President Donald Trump. Foley publicly criticized Trump throughout his first presidency from 2016 to 2020 and has continued to voice similar concerns during Trump’s current term. Those views recently led Foley to part ways with WWE, citing the company’s close relationship with Trump. The 60-year-old later explained that the president’s comments about the death of filmmaker and actor Rob Reiner were the breaking point that pushed him to step away from working with WWE while Trump remains in office. Dave Meltzer of The Wrestling Observer spoke to Foley and revealed that he is fully aware that taking a stance against WWE's ties with Trump carries significant personal and financial consequences. Meltzer explained that Foley has admitted these decisions directly impact his livelihood, particularly his live touring shows. According to Meltzer, Foley feels strongly about the issue, but understands the financial costs. Foley reportedly recalled an incident from a few months ago when he made a critical post about Trump shortly before a scheduled appearance in Alabama. On the day of the event, numerous fans canceled their tickets.
The WWE Hall of Famer recognizes that in certain parts of the country, fans are unwilling to support people who oppose Trump, meaning his political stance has led to lost income from his shows.

It appears the separation between Mick Foley and WWE has already begun. Earlier this week, WWE Hall of Famer Mick Foley announced that he’s parting ways with the company when his Legends contract expires next year due to their association with President Donald Trump. But it appears WWE is already making moves to remove Foley from the company. This week’s “WarGames” event in WWE Supercard was set to feature a Mick Foley card as “Saint Mick.” This has been a Christmas tradition over the years in Supercard and would have been Foley’s fifth appearance in the game as the “Saint Mick” character. However, hours after the event hit the game, it was removed without warning. Later, game developer Catdaddy would address Foley’s removal on the game’s official Discord with the following statement: “Hi all, it’s unclear exactly what’s going to happen but it’s unlikely we’ll be able to use Mick Foley, unfortunately. We really liked that card. We have another fun one as a replacement in the works.” The replacement was a card of Austin Theory featuring his new look from “Monday Night RAW”. With Foley’s removal from WWE Supercard this week, it should immediately put his status for WWE 2K26 in question. Unless Foley were to have a prominent role in the next game’s story mode, he would likely be easily removed, much like WWE had 2K do with Mandy Rose in WWE 2K23 when she was released by the company in December of 2022.
