NEWS
While speaking at the “Johnny I Pro Show”, WWE Hall of Famer Bret Hart reflected on his match with “Rowdy” Roddy Piper at WrestleMania VIII in 1992: “I remember we were in Halifax (Nova Scotia, Canada) and we actually first time we saw each other was about two weeks before WrestleMania. And we were always buddy buddy, but we sat down in this restaurant and I remember he goes, ‘So, what do you want to do?’ And I said, ‘I got some ideas and stuff, but I—’ I remember I said, ‘Well, what do you want to do?’ And I remember in that moment I was like, ‘What if he tells me a lousy idea? Do I have the guts to say, that idea sucks?’ I remember he said, ‘You tell me what you want to do.’ And he started telling me the match. And he laid out the whole match—like, let me put it this way: Roddy had the exact same match that I did. Not necessarily the moves, but the story. We could put the moves in after. And I remember he laid out the whole match and how he thought it should go. The finish—the ending of the Roddy Piper match—is Roddy’s ending. I remember that was—he said that’s—he goes he watched it done, he watched that finish at a match somewhere, and he goes, ‘That’s how I want to have my last match in my career or something.’ It was a really special ending that he had found or seen done or done somewhere, but that was how he wanted to go out. He goes, ‘I want you to do the um—you know, where I push off with the sleeper and fall back on him and all that and roll over and pin him one, two, three.’ And I was like, ‘Great. I love it. This is the exact same match.’ That’s the thing I was going to say: Roddy laid out for me basically the same framework of the match that I had in my mind. And when Roddy started talking to me, it’s like, ‘Oh, it’s such a relief,’ because it’s like we’re on the same page. Roddy knew how to make a hero. And I was trying to, you know, in those days trying to climb up to the next level, and Roddy was really the first guy to reach down and pull someone like me up to the next level and pass that torch. In contrast to guys like Jake Roberts and Hulk Hogan, who never passed the torch to anybody. All they did is take and take and take and never ever help anybody—two of the biggest pieces of sh*t in wrestling.”

In a recent interview, Bret Hart claims that Vince McMahon and Shawn Michaels were lovers back in the 90s. John Powell of SLAM! Wrestling wrote a story about that subject, which you can read by clicking here.

Shawn Michaels met up with rapper Lil Yachty backstage at “Gold Rush” and told him that he’s welcome back any time.

Ethan Page was a guest on the “Getting Over: Wrestling Podcast”, which you can listen to by clicking here.

Christopher Daniels reacted to an old photo of himself on social media with A. J. Styles, Frankie Kazarian, and Samoa Joe: “As of today, the three best wrestlers in this picture hold championship gold in their respective federations, after years of honing their skills around the world against the best competition anywhere. The fourth guy is proud to have shared the ring with them & see their success.” Daniels was referring to himself as the fourth guy.

While speaking to Ariel Helwani, former WWF, WCW, and TNA writer Vince Russo addressed his longtime beef with veteran wrestling personality Jim Cornette: “First of all, let me make one thing perfectly clear. I don’t have any beef with Jim Cornette. I don’t have any hatred for Jim Cornette. If I am going to be honest with you, and I’m a New Yorker, to me, Jim Cornette is a goof. To me, Jim Cornette has always been a goof. So a goof is not going to upset me. Here’s what happened, Ariel. It’s really easy and it’s twofold. Number one, how did the hatred start? It’s real simple. Vince McMahon chose me over Jim Cornette. Years later, Dixie Carter chose me over Jim Cornette. Rather than Jim Cornette look himself in the mirror and say, ‘Wait a minute, why Russo? Why didn’t they choose me? What do I need to work on? What do I need to approve on?’ Rather than him do that, it was my fault. It was my fault that they chose me off. It had nothing to do with him. It was my fault. Now, you add to that, I have become part of Jim Cornette’s shtick. His cult of Cornette, whatever it is, they expect Cornette to rip on every single thing I do to cut promos on me and to call me a Yankee and a sh*t stain. I have offered to have public debates with Jim Cornette and Eric Bischoff, both of them. These guys will not get in front of me. Listen, man. This is the way I look at it. And again, I’m a New Yorker. If I think somebody is a liar and every word out of their mouth is a lie, and I can get them face to face and expose them, bro, I am going to be all over that. I am going to be all… But yet these guys have claimed for 25 years, every word out of my mouth is a lie. So I have said, no problem, let’s debate. I even said to Cornette, Jim, let’s do it online. We’ll have a debate. All the money goes to Cauliflower Alley. I don’t want a penny. Give all the money. Nope, they refuse. They’ll talk about me behind my back. They’ll cut promos behind my back. One on one in the same room. I’m still waiting for that to happen.”
