WWE Hall Of Famer Updates Fans On Health Status Following Illness

Posted: Nov 25th 2025 By: Michael Schrute

WWE Hall of Famer and one-half of the legendary Rock ‘n’ Roll Express, Ricky Morton, took to social media to share a concerning health update with his fans. The veteran wrestler revealed that he has been dealing with a significant respiratory issue that has hampered his daily life for the last couple of weeks.

Morton wrote on X, “I’ve been fighting walking pneumonia for the past two weeks, and man… it has absolutely kicked my ass.”

Physical Toll

Walking pneumonia, a milder form of pneumonia that typically allows patients to continue some daily activities, appears to have hit the wrestling legend harder than the name implies. Morton described the extreme fatigue and physical exhaustion he has experienced while trying to perform even the simplest of household tasks during his recovery.

“Even a walk to the mailbox has felt like a full-on marathon,” Morton continued in his post.

Road To Recovery

Despite the physical struggle, Morton remains optimistic about his prognosis. He expressed a reliance on his faith and a determination to get back to full strength, though he acknowledged that the process is being taken one day at a time.

“Taking it day by day, keeping my faith strong, and trusting this bounce-back is coming,” he wrote.

Legendary Career

Morton is best known for his run in the 1980s alongside Robert Gibson as the Rock ‘n’ Roll Express, a team that revolutionized tag team wrestling. Their feuds with the Midnight Express and the Four Horsemen remain some of the most celebrated programs in wrestling history. The duo was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2017, cementing their legacy in the industry.

Even in recent years, Morton has remained surprisingly active in the ring, continuing to accept bookings and train the next generation of wrestlers at his school. His high energy and bump-taking ability defined his career, making this description of his current physical limitations all the more striking for longtime fans who are used to seeing him defy his age inside the squared circle.
