Wrestling for Heroes Big Convention wraps up after three days in Pryor

The Wrestling for Heroes Big Convention wrapped up after spending three days in Pryor over the weekend.

The event featured various legends of pro-wrestling and up and coming wrestlers showcasing their skills in matches throughout the weekend.

Wrestlers tend to go to conventions often, but it's rare for the convention to to give back to those who serve.

At the Mayes County Event Center in Pryor, the Wrestling for Heroes Big Convention wrapped up on Sunday afternoon after wrestling legends spent the weekend speaking with fans and taking pictures as well as featuring live wrestling from independent wrestlers.

Sting was the main attraction of the weekend as this was his last trip to Oklahoma wearing his iconic face paint.

Plenty of legends were there over the weekend, including Rikishi and his son Thamiko. Both spoke about their experiences in Pryor and the cause behind the convention.

“This is [exciting] to be here in Pryor. This is my first time to be able to come here , do a meet and greet,” said Rikishi. “I’ve never wrestled here back in the day for WWF, so it's good here, especially for a special event for the Veterans.”

“Everyone over here has been top tier, man,” said Thamiko. “It’s like a family atmosphere.”

The event was put on by Oklahoma Freedom Flight whose mission is to provide all expenses paid trips for U.S. Veterans to visit memorials and monuments across the country.

One local wrestler, Corporal Punishment, spoke about what the event meant to him.

“Not only do I get to do what I love by wrestling and giving back to the Veterans, I get to pay homage to the people who came before me and paved the way for me to what I’m doing,” said Corporal Punishment. “I’m around Veterans all the time.”

Other legends included Rob Van Dam, the Good Brothers, and more. They met fans and signed autographs.

Wrestling For Hunger was part of the event. They have been around for five years and have their next show on Saturday.
