Austin Idle: More Guts Than Brains or Tougher Than Leather?

Austin Idle: More Guts Than Brains or Tougher Than Leather?

Former SRPW Tag Team Champion Austin Idle showed an uncommon amount of tenacity last Friday in a tag team match with Paul Linam against Bobby Burns & Terry Montana.

Early in the match, Idle was punched in the mouth by Montana, opening an interior wound that would bleed for the remainder of the match. But this did nothing to reduce his intent to win this match. Luck was not with Idle or his partner, as they came out on the losing end. But after the match was over, Idle & Montana had a stare down in the ring. Idle even waived his partner Paul Linam away while yelling in Montana?s face. And while there was no further physical confrontation between the 2, Montana was obviously surprised that Idle, who is only 5?5", would show no fear in standing up to the 6?-plus former OCW & TPW Hardcore Champion.

Idle and Montana have only competed against each other once before, but the results were very unpleasant for the former Phantasy XXXpress member. On 9-16-05, Beau Dalton recruited Montana to wrestle Idle in a singles match for reasons that were never made clear. Nothing that Idle did had any real effect on Montana and Idle ended up suffering a foot injury that would put him out on the injured list and force him to relenquish his half of the SRPW Tag Team Titles to Bobby Dalton. Idle made his return to SRPW in January at their 3rd anniversary show, scoring a victory with Cpl. James Warbois & Dexter Hardaway against members of the Dalton/Legacy Gang (including his former tag team partner Beau Dalton).

Rumours around the locker room are that Idle & Linam intend to team regularly and show SRPW that, despite their size, they can be just as much of a threat as big men like Terry Montana & Bobby Burns.
