AJ Styles confirmed to appear at TNA Slammiversary

Posted: Jul 18th 2025 By: Josh Nason

Confirming what TNA head Carlos Silva had teased all week, current WWE roster member and former TNA star AJ Styles will be in the house for this Sunday’s Slammiversary pay-per-view.

The news was made official via a vignette that aired on Thursday’s edition of Impact, featuring clips and then Styles’ dusty ring jacket in a TNA bin until someone blows the dust off. Styles’ name or direct image was never shown.

It’s unclear if Styles will be wrestling or if it’s just an appearance. He hasn’t wrestled since a mid-June Raw match with JD McDonagh, but said in June that he’d be open to having another TNA match.

The 48-year-old hasn’t wrestled in TNA since December 2013 when he lost to Nick Aldis (then Magnus) in a no DQ match for the TNA World title. The appearance/match is part of the multi-year partnership between WWE and TNA.

Styles was a member of the original TNA roster, first appearing on their second-ever NWA Total Nonstop Action show in June 2002 and would remain there for the better part of 11 years in addition to other indie promotions.

Styles is a former two-time TNA World Champion, six-time X-Division Champion, two-time Tag Team Champion, and two-time King of the Mountain Champion.

He has been considered for their Hall of Fame, but WWE reportedly passed on the idea of allowing him to do it according to a story from October 2024. However, that was before the news of the two companies’ official partnership.
