CM Punk calls AJ Styles a legend: ‘Let’s not wait 21 years for the next time’

CM Punk is hoping that it won’t be too long until he and AJ Styles share the ring again.
On Monday night’s episode of Raw, Punk and Styles wrestled each other for the first time since 2004. They headlined last night’s show in a triple threat match where El Grande Americano (Chad Gable) defeated Punk and Styles to qualify for Money in the Bank. Interference by Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed led to Punk and Styles losing the match.
Punk sent out an Instagram stories post later in the night calling Styles a legend and saying he hopes their next match against each other isn’t too far away.
“[AJ Styles], I’ve got a lot on my plate right now but I’ll always make room for you,” Punk wrote. “Thank you for the boot print on my nose. Let’s not wait 21 years for the next time. You’re a legend”
Despite some personal animosity between them in the past, Punk and Styles have now both spoken respectfully of each other since Punk returned to WWE. Their history dates back to the early 2000s when they were in ROH and on the indies together.
Last night’s Raw ended with Seth Rollins, Breakker, and Reed standing tall over Punk, Sami Zayn, and Jey Uso after the heels prevented Punk and Styles from qualifying for Money in the Bank. Rollins, Americano, Solo Sikoa, LA Knight, Penta, and Andrade will be the participants in the men’s ladder match on Saturday.
