NEWS
The Texas based Inspire After Death announced their end of year award winners. Dimitri Alexandrov was named Wrestler of the Year, his tag team with Brick Savage was named Tag Team of the Year, and their match against Superiority Complex (Exodus Prime & Stephen Wolf) on September 1, 2014 was Tag Team Match of the Year. Alexandrov & Savage, collectively known as BDSM, are the reigning Inspire Pro Twin Dragon Connection Champions.

Several WWE Hall of Famers were brought in for WWE’s “Saturday Night’s Main Event” in San Antonio, TX on January 25th. Among those in attendance were “Million Dollar Man” Ted DiBiase, former WWE Women’s champion Alundra Blayze, former World Heavyweight champion Mark Henry, Dory Funk, Jr, the winner of the first-ever Royal Rumble “Hacksaw” Jim Duggan, and former WWE Tag Team champions The Brain Busters (Arn Anderson & Tully Blanchard). Jesse “The Body” Ventura was also on hand introducing the show with Joe Tessitore and provided commentary during the Intercontinental Title Match. Ever since the regime change at WWE, the company has been taking care of the WWE Superstars who paved the way better and with more respect, with WWE Legends saying the comparison is night and day from their time under Vince McMahon. Now everyone looks forward to being part of the show.

Scott Steiner took a shot back at Jesse "The Body" Ventura after Ventura took a swipe at Bron Breakker last week on WWE’s “Saturday Night's Main Event” at the expense of The Steiner Brothers (Rick Steiner & Scott Steiner). During the introductions, Ventura joked that there is one problem with Breakker: he's a Steiner. "That means two and two equals five," Ventura said, making fun of the Scott Steiner math problem. Scott responded "Jesse Ventura seems to forget that I attended a highly educated university. Next time I see him there’s a 141 2/3 chance that I will slap him like a bitch". He continued, adding that Ventura's Navy Seal training won't be able to help him. The “Steiner Math” came after Scott was going to wrestle in a triple threat match for the TNA World title years ago in a match involving also Kurt Angle and Samoa Joe. He then went on rambling about percentages, finally coming to the conclusion that he had a 141 2/3 chance of winning the match.

“Going Ringside” interviewed Scott Steiner and A. J. Francis. You can watch the interviews by clicking here.

Abdullah the Butcher was backstage visiting at “RAW” on Monday. Natalya wrote “What an honor it was seeing Abdullah the Butcher tonight backstage at #WWERaw. Abby did HUGE business for my grandfather Stu Hart in Stampede Wrestling. Abby was the original king of hardcore wrestling. Stu adored Abby and would speak of him all the time. So happy we could visit tonight, @abthebutcher. It made my day. #respect”.

Recent WWE Vault content includes Rick Rude vs. Ricky Steamboat from “Royal Rumble 1988”.

WWE and A&E today announced the airdates for the new WWE programming lineup which will begin next month. Beginning Sunday, February 16th at 8pm Eastern, “WWE LFG”, an action-packed, competitive series, redefines what it takes to make it in WWE. Each week, sixteen WWE hopefuls push their limits to earn the ultimate prize: a coveted spot on NXT, WWE’s developmental series featuring the brightest rising stars in professional wrestling. Immediately following at 9:30pm Eastern, “WWE Rivals” returns for an all-new season bringing WWE's most legendary rivalries to life like never before. Actor, comedian and WWE Superfan, Gabriel “Fluffy” Iglesias leads a round table and unfiltered discussion with WWE icons including Cody Rhodes, Kevin Nash, Kevin Owens, John Bradshaw Layfield, and more. Rounding out the night at 10:30pm Eastern, new series “WWE’s Greatest Moments” offers fans a chance to count down the most iconic events in WWE history. Hosted by legendary play-by-play announcer Michael Cole, each half-hour episode will feature WWE Superstars and Legends—including “Stone Cold” Steve Austin, Hulk Hogan, Kevin Owens, A. J. Styles, and more—sharing their personal memories from some of the most unforgettable moments in WWE history.

There has been a lot all over the web including from WWE with Monday as the 32nd anniversary of the death of Andre the Giant. We had all been led to believe Andre passed away on January 27, 1993, having to do with the time difference and it was still that day in the United States when word was first received. However, he passed away in France in his sleep. He was staying at a hotel after attending his father’s funeral and came back to the hotel at 1am on the morning of January 28th. He went to his room and the belief is that he died in his sleep. Patric Laprade, who did the great biography of Andre, went to France and saw the death certificate listing January 28th and also spoke to the doorman at the hotel who confirmed Andre as being alive after midnight. But that January 27th date was used for decades and it’s one of those things that even though evidence showed it to be inaccurate, it’s still used as the day of his death in many circles.

Goldberg said on his “CarCast” podcast that he’ll be undergoing stem cell therapy as part of the preparation for his retirement match that’s happening in WWE later this year. Neither a date nor an opponent for the match have been announced yet.

On social media, MVP clarified his current status. He posted “I plan to wrestle periodically. Just to remind these pissants that I’m STILL a legit threat in the ring. I’m the spokesman for The Hurt Syndicate. And sometimes I speak with my fists.”

VICE TV green lighted the new season of “Dark Side of the Ring” in December of last year and the new season will premiere on March 25th. Evan Husney and Jason Eisener remain as executive producers of the popular show. Here is the rumored episode list:

-Hell In the Cell
-Big Van Vader
-Tony Atlas
-Ludvig Borga
-Billy Jack Haynes
-”Hotstuff” Eddie Gilbert
-”Superstar” Billy Graham
-Daffney
-The Original Sheik
-Muhammad Hassan

Rob Van Dam and Bobby Fulton have been going at it on social media. Van Dam wrote last week, “Until bad business Bobby taps out–which means admitting his lying and I’m telling 100 percent the truth, I will not let up. 34 years of a reputation of being honest and genuine and then this asshole thinks he can make money off calling me a liar? F*** that. F*** you Bobby.”

The Fulton (Hines) family on the World Class Professional Big Time Wrestling Facebook page posted that they were canceling the March 8th show and convention and temporarily not running anything. Bobby Fulton said that his son Dillon Hines has left the wrestling business and cut off all contacts to wrestling. Fulton also said WCBTW will return with something bigger and better than before. WCBTW and the Hines Family have come under scrutiny lately, mostly from Rob Van Dam, being accused of not paying talent used for WCBTW shows and conventions and treating talent poorly. After the announcement of the cancellation, Missy Hyatt posted that the Hines Family, and specifically Dillon, treated her with respect and paid her fairly. Downtown Bruno also sent a video stating he had a positive experience with the Hines Family and WCBTW.

Oklafan congratulates Leo Fox on the birth of his daughter Luciana on January 27th.

Jake O’Brien had arthroscopic knee surgery on January 30th. Oklafan wishes him a speedy recovery.

Oklafan extends condolences to Mike Gunnz on the passing of his father on January 26th.

Oklafan extends condolences to Scott Summers on the passing of his aunt Shirley on January 29th.

Oklafan extends condolences to the family and friends of Ed Wiskoski, who competed under many names, including his own, but may best be known as Col. DeBeers. He passed away January 23, 2025 at the age of 80 after a brief illness. Wiskoski was born in St. Joseph, MO and was the first person in his family to graduate college. He made it into the NFL, but, in his own words, he lasted "as long as a fart in a hurricane" there, never even making a starting roster. But his name stuck in people's head, including local promoter Gus Karras, who suggested that Wiskoski try pro wrestling. Training under Ron Etchison, Harley Race, and Lord Littlebrook, Wiskoski debuted in 1972. For much of his early years, he was a regular in the Central States territory, but also ventured into Florida. But in 1977, he made his way to the Pacific Northwest, where he would become a regular for a long time, forming a solid partnership in and out of the ring with Buddy Rose. After a near 5-year stay and a multitude of PNW titles, Wiskoski made a brief foray into TSW in 1981 for about 2 months. During that time, he teamed with Mike George and captured the TSW Tag Team Titles from Eddie Gilbert & Ricky Morton on June 11, 1981. They only held the belts for 2 weeks, losing them back to the Gilbert/Morton duo on June 25, 1981. That would be his only title run in this area. Wiskoski would actually make his way to MSW (before it absorbed the Oklahoma area) and was there for about a year, then returned to Florida, and eventually the Pacific Northwest. In 1986, Wiksoski entered the AWA and created the character he is perhaps best remembered for: The South African Military racist, Col. DeBeers. He would engage in a feud with Jimmy Snuka that put him on the national map. DeBeers spent 2 years in the AWA before returning once again to the Pacific Northwest, though he would resurface in the AWA again briefly in 1989 for about a month, this time focusing on up-and-coming African-American star Derrick Dukes. In 1990, DeBeers would be one of the main stars of Herb Abrams' UWF, but it closed in 1991 and again, DeBeers returned to the Pacific Northwest, where he stayed with few exceptions for the remainder of his in-ring career. Wiskoski was known as a man of many names and characters. Besides his "Easy Ed" and Col. DeBeers characters, he is known for being the "Polish Prince" (which very briefly got him into the WWF in 1983, his only appearances in that federation), The Convict (no connection to the Oklahoma star by that name), and the Mega Maharishi Imed, a character based on the actual Rajneeshees cult in Oregon in the late 1970s. But underneath all that was a very talented, well-spoken man who was very private, rarely attending fan conventions and known to be the complete opposite of the heat-drawing heels he often portrayed. At the time of this writing, Wiskoski competed on 10 Oklahoma wrestling cards. The earliest was June 12, 1981, where he faced TSW Tag Team Champion Ricky Morton in a singles match in Oklahoma City. No result for that match is known. The last match was August 17, 1981 where he and Eddie Gilbert went to a Double DQ on a TSW event in Tulsa.

Greg Oliver of SLAM! Wrestling wrote a story about the passing of Col. DeBeers. You can read the story by clicking here.
