Eubanks looks back at 'top three match' of his career at Showdown
Posted: Sep 30th 2024 By: Jake Sermershein
For the last 22 years, Brad Eubanks — known as the Man They Call Fuel — has been competing as a professional wrestler. Over those 22 years, Eubanks doesn’t think he has had a reaction like had at his latest event; United Wrestling Entertainment’s Showdown 14 main event.
After beating Colt Killbane for UWE’s World Title, the fans in Markoma Gym came unglued as Eubanks lifted the belt above his head for the sixth time.
“That was one of the biggest crowds we had, but also one of the loudest crowds we had,” Eubanks said. “Everyone came into the back after their match and said ‘That crowd is awesome and loud.’ Every time a wrestler goes out there normally they are their biggest critic but after every single match every wrestler felt awesome, and everyone was in great spirits. There was a different atmosphere.”
Once the main event’s bell was ready to ring, the crowd was fully behind Eubanks. Getting to that spot wasn’t expected for Eubanks, he said. Earlier this year, Eubanks — who also founded and owns UWE — lost to Killbane in less than a minute. According to Eubanks he lost his confidence after that and wasn’t sure if he was going to continue.
He went as far as to plan to sit out the Sooner Stampede, but someone had different plans.
A mystery person entered Eubanks’ name into the main event of Stampede with the winner getting a shot at Killbane at Showdown, he said. After outlasting 29 other men, Eubanks secured his spot in the main event, but Killbane wanted to throw some wrinkles his way. Killbane was only willing to wrestle Eubanks if he put up the ownership of UWE if he lost the match, he said.
By the time Eubanks flew threw a table and hit Killbane for a spear and the pin count, the fans who were invested in the story came unglued as a celebration began.
“I have been wrestling since May 4, 2002, and I have had some awesome moments at that place,” Eubanks said. ”But Showdown 14 I was not planned to be in that spot, I wasn’t supposed to be in that last match. But after I won, the roar I heard was the loudest I had heard and I knew it wasn’t up to me it was up to the audience. I was like OK I am where I am supposed to be.”

After getting hit with a chair and going through some tables, Eubanks said he is very sore but he thinks he will look back at that match.
“It has been six years since I was hit with a chair that hard,” Eubanks said. “I was very sore but going through that match it was one of the hardest-hitting matches, but I feel like it is going to be one of the top three matches of my career.”
Every year Showdown serves as UWE’s main attraction, it’s a kind of Wrestlemania, if you will. After the event, UWE slows down a little bit with just one more event taking place in 2024 on Saturday, Nov. 2.
In other news, shortly after Showdown’s press conference, Eubanks got some good news from the IRS.
UWE has officially become a 501C-3 not-for-profit charity.
Three days after the media kick-off we got approved for a 501-C3 non-profit organization.
“What’s next is expanding on that and getting the word out that we can receive donations and continue to build UWE bigger and stronger than it’s ever been before,” Eubanks said. “Any organization who would like a little extra help in the most unique fun way from an organization to a sports team or even anyone needing help with medical bills or something.”
