NEWS
The reason there was no Bloodline segment on “SmackDown” on August 30th is because much of the family went home for Afa’s funeral which took place that weekend.

Goldberg gave his son a pre-game pep talk on Instagram. Click here to see the post.

After Jim Ross said that Kevin Kelly & The Tate Twins’ lawsuit was frivolous, Kelly responded on X saying “Lots of comments on our lawsuit and we will see what happens. I had hoped to settle this fairly and quietly with AEW but they left us no choice. And to my friend JR, this is not “frivolous" in the least. We look forward to what comes next. Thank you all very much.”

Rob Faint of RingTheDamnBell.Wordpress.com wrote a story entitled “Southpaws-Top Five Greatest Lefties in Wrestling” and among those listed were Harley Race and Terry Funk. To read the story, click here.

Brian Damage of RingTheDamnBell.Wordpress.com wrote a story entitled “Wrestling Belts Only Held By One Person” and among those listed was the WCCW Middle Eastern Championship (1985-1987). Mike Von Erich defeated Gino Hernandez to become the first and only champion on August 7, 1985 in a match in Tel Aviv, Israel. Oklafan congratulates Johnny Humble on the birth of his son Conrado on September 2nd.

Oklafan extends condolences to O’Brien on the passing of his grandfather on September 1st.

Oklafan extends condolences to Korttni Sadat on the passing of her mother on August 2nd.

Oklafan extends condolences to the family and friends of Sonny King, who passed away August 31, 2024 after suffering from Alzheimer's for 10 years. He was 79 years old. King, whose real name was Lawrence Johnson, wanted to be a boxer as a youth, but eventually was befriended by Ernie Ladd who led his introduction to the world of pro wrestling. King worked in Canada and Detroit before coming to the WWWF. He became the first African-American wrestler to win gold in the company when he and Jay Strongbow captured the WWWF World Tag Team Titles in 1972. They only held the titles one month, but King's name was forever etched in history at that moment. King would compete in various territories for the next 10 years before an incident not only nearly ended his career, but his life. He was in Charlotte, NC when he witnessed a group of fans being ejected from the arena. That group tried to get back in and stormed past the security, so King confronted them after they uttered a racial epitaph towards him. Things got physical and King ended up being stabbed in the arms, back and most notably in the chest, where the blade punctured his lung and nicked his heart. King would return from that to be a manager, a role he had adopted several years before. On November 24, 1974, he was advertised on a TSW card against Tim Brooks, but his primary run here came in 1984 after coming back from the stabbing incident. Sonny came to MSW and partnered with the Junkyard Dog, feuding with Buddy Landel and his partner Butch Reed. King would retire in the mid-1980s and worked in a junkyard for much of the remainder of his working life, buying and selling car parts. In total, King participated on 8 documented Oklahoma events. The earliest was November 24, 1974 against Tim Brooks at a TSW card in Tulsa. The result of that match is unknown. The last was August 26, 1984 when he defeated his mentor Ernie Ladd by Countout at a MSW event in Tulsa.

Greg Oliver of SLAM! Wrestling wrote a story entitled “Mat Matters: Sonny King’s Death a Reminder of the Son I Connected with Him”, which you can read by clicking here.
