NEWS
The television ratings for the August 9th “WWE Friday Night SmackDown” from the BOK Center in Tulsa had 2,269,000 viewers, up 90,000 from the previous week. It drew a 0.63 rating in the 18-49 demographic, up 0.04 from the previous week. It was #3 on the chart for the night behind two Olympics broadcasts on NBC. The Olympics dominated Friday night with 12 million viewers.
Alex Royal and Cappuccino Jones were both seen in the hallway as Bron Breakker was walking towards the ring during the August 12th episode of “WWE Monday Night RAW” in Austin, TX.
Jacob Henry, the son of WWE Hall of Famer Mark Henry has signed an NIL deal with WWE, which means he will be paid by WWE while he attends college and wrestles for the University of Oklahoma. He will also be trying out for the OU football team in the spring. Mark and Jacob were both in attendance at “WWE Monday Night RAW” on August 12th in Austin, TX.

MVP has departed WWE and his profile, along with his long time associate Bobby Lashley, has been moved to the alumni section on WWE.com. The 50-year-old has been with the company since 2020 and was on his second stint with WWE, returning at the “Royal Rumble” that year and then sticking around when The Hurt Business (himself, Lashley, Shelton Benjamin, & Cedric Alexander) banded together. After The Hurt Business was abandoned by WWE, MVP moved to manage Omos but despite the potential, the pairing never really took off. MVP last appeared on WWE television when he accompanied Omos to the Andre the Giant Battle Royal on the eve of “WrestleMania XL”. While in a recent interview MVP said that his latest run was quite the ride, his departure wasn't a quiet one, accusing WWE of being racist, and showed no love lost for Paul "Triple H" Levesque. MVP did show up at Game Changer Wrestling’s “Josh Barnett’s Bloodsport XI” pay-per-view event on July 28th in New York City to challenge Barnett at a future “Bloodsport” event. There are rumors that MVP and Lashley may try to reform The Hurt Business with Shelton Benjamin in AEW, GCW, or other indie feds, but they would probably have to use a different name for the team.
Cody Rhodes discussed his brother’s team with Ross and Marshall Von Erich in a new interview with Sports Illustrated. Dustin Rhodes and The Von Erichs won the ROH 6-Man Tag Team Championships at “Battle of the Belts XI” last month. Dustin then cut an emotional promo after the match and thanked Kevin Von Erich for everything he’s given to the wrestling business. Cody told Justin Barrasso that he studied Kevin Von Erich and found Dustin teaming with Kevin’s kids to be “very touching”. “Dustin doing the spot with the Von Erichs was so cool,” said Cody. “I have such a love for the Von Erichs. I don’t think Kevin knows this, but I studied Kevin, I watched Kevin, I was so fascinated by Kevin Von Erich. To see his kids and Dustin, it was very touching”.
