Ethan Page: AEW was ‘so chaotic and unorganized’ compared to WWE NXT

Ethan Page is happy with the organized atmosphere of his new pro wrestling home.

Page arrived in WWE NXT by making his debut on the May 28 episode of the show. While appearing on Luke Gallows & Karl Anderson’s Talk’n Shop podcast, Page was asked how it felt to debut for WWE. Page described the company as a machine, saying it’s much different than the “chaotic and unorganized” environment he felt existed in AEW.

“Pretty crazy. I went from somewhere that was so chaotic and unorganized to a place that — I mean I’m still learning because I’m still so new here, but, it’s just like, this is a machine and it’s incredible,” Page said. “It feels good to not feel like I have to do everything myself or like — to have people that want to see me succeed is kind of mind-blowing.”

Being in WWE was always a dream for Page. He listed Randy Savage, The Rock, Billy Gunn, and Razor Ramon as some of his favorite wrestlers to watch growing up.

Page departed AEW/ROH this May and reportedly wanted to leave as early as February. He opened up to Talk’n Shop about why he made the decision to depart AEW.

“It was definitely time to leave,” Page said. “My thought was — I could sit in catering for the next three years and my career would end, or I try and do something before my career ends [laughs]. And here we are.”

Page said that, after leaving AEW, he got a random phone call on a layover where he was offered his NXT deal. He didn’t believe the call at first until he got a follow-up call right after.

Since debuting, Page has been involved in the NXT Championship mix. Trick Williams is defending the title against Page, Je’Von Evans, and Shawn Spears in a fatal four-way match at NXT Heatwave this Sunday (July 7).
