Mick Foley thinking of having one final death match for 60th birthday

Wrestling legend Mick Foley is thinking about stepping into the ring one final time.
The 58-year-old Foley hasn't wrestled in over a decade. But on the final episode of his Foley is Pod podcast, Foley said he's given thought to the idea of losing 100 pounds and then having one last match for his 60th birthday. Foley said it would be a death match:
Just to put it out there, 60 is right around the corner. I’m thinking of doing one final match for my 60th birthday. Death match. I think it'd be a great incentive to drop those 100 big ones [pounds]. And I think it might be fun.
When asked if the match would take place in WWE, Foley stated that it would not:
No, no. I don't think so, because I think it would be a pretty gory spectacle. I’m just thinking about it. I put it out there to two of my kids and they were like, ‘Would you get hurt?’ I was like, ‘Yeah, probably.’
But I wouldn’t have to get my brain rattled, right? I’m not adverse to a few sticheroonies here and there.
Foley said the match wouldn't be for everyone and he knows people would understandably say this isn't good for him, but it could help him drop the 100 pounds he needs to lose. Foley said he wants motivation to lose the weight.
Foley named Jon Moxley or Matt Cardona as the opponent he would like to face:
Moxley or Matt Cardona. I think Moxley would be the easiest, but Matt has that heat in the death match world that could really make it something cool.
The last time Foley competed in the ring was an appearance in the 2012 Royal Rumble.
Foley was inducted into the Wrestling Observer Newsletter Hall of Fame in 2000 and the WWE Hall of Fame in 2013. Last year, he made an appearance during the 2023 WWE Hall of Fame ceremony to help induct Stacy Keibler.
