Tom Lawlor says he should have got to fight Walker Stewart for the vacant NJPW commentary role. In October 2023, Walker Stewart was named as the newest member of NJPW's English broadcast team, replacing Kevin Kelly. Since he started the job, many fans have taken to social media and praised Stewart for his work in the company, especially during the World Tag League tournament. While speaking to the “Under The Ring” podcast for a recent interview, Tom Lawlor recalled doing commentary work for CES MMA before joking that he should have had a shoot fight with Walker Stewart to determine who got the english commentary gig for NJPW. He said "Unfortunately, the pandemic put a kibosh on it, but I was doing commentary consistently for CES MMA, which is one of the top promotions in the Northeast. They put probably 20 guys into the UFC. I loved doing work there, but the pandemic kind of took that down. I was also hoping, and maybe this will happen in the future. I think I should have gotten a one-on-one contest with Walker Stewart to decide who was going to get this New Japan commentary gig. I would have preferred, instead of them just hiring him because he has a great voice, make him do a shoot fight against me. Maybe an academic decathlon. We’ll see if he knows more wrestling than I do."
In comments given to the New York Post, AEW President Tony Khan said that AEW is "not paying Ric Flair" but it's the other way round. Flair made his AEW debut on the October 25th episode of “Dynamite” when he was brought out as the "gift" from Tony Khan to Sting as part of his upcoming retirement. It was later revealed that Flair signed a multi-year deal with the promotion and his Wooooo! Energy Drink would serve as the official drink for AEW. Tony Khan said "Ric Flair is essentially paying us. We’re getting paid by Wooooo Energy for all of his appearances, so we’re collecting revenue from them". Wooooo! Energy Drink is owned by Carma HoldCo Inc.
Former wrestling manager Jim Cornette wants WWE to sign a popular female AEW star, Anna Jay. The 25-year-old up-and-coming star has become a prominent part of the thriving Women's Division since signing with All Elite Wrestling in April 2020. She underwent significant character changes early in her career, courtesy of her alliance with The Dark Order, which helped put her on the map. She later turned heel and joined her friend Tay Conti in The Jericho Appreciation Society. Although Anna Jay has not won a championship yet, she has been involved in some hardcore style matches. Speaking on the “Jim Cornette Experience” podcast, Cornette and his co-host, The Great Brian Last, discussed the idea of WWE potentially signing Anna Jay. Cornette stated that Jay should be sent to NXT, where she can learn how to wrestle. "She's got some height. She's got some weight, especially where you like it and hopefully send to NXT to learn how to wrestle," Cornette said.
