WHAMMY! Revell ends Barry's 15 month title reign amid trickery
Posted: Dec 25th 2007 By: mikeiles
He has gone by the names Tommy Smash, Thomas Rumsfeld, and Tommy Revell. He has been a tag team champion in Steel Rage Pro Wrestling, a member of the future president's Cabinet, and the love interest of Marianne Albright. Now, IZW Heavyweight Champion can be added to his resume.
Tommy Revell entered IZW as Thomas Rumsfeld, the head of security for the future president of the United States, Mitch W. Carter. His first match against IZW Heavyweight Champion Michael Barry, was on August 4th. Rumsfeld lost that match but gained some knowledge on the styles of wrestling "Mr. Saturday Night" employs. Rumsfeld's employer Mitch W. Carter lost to Barry on September 8th and Rumsfeld's knowledge of Barry grew. On September 29th, Barry defeated Rumsfeld again. The rage began to fester and Rumsfeld changed his name to Tommy Revell. He was no longer a part of Mitch W. Carter's Cabinet, but he still had Marianne Albright at his side. Albright is no stranger to the squared circle herself having wrestled in numerous feds in Oklahoma and surrounding states. In fact, Albright herself was the last Women's Champion for the now defunct SRPW.
The name change for Revell didn't change the outcome of his encounters with Barry however as he lost once again on October 13th. When tempers started to flare between Revell and Albright, Barry stepped in and consoled the young lady. After Revell gave Albright a Spinebuster putting her out of action for several weeks, she and Barry became an item. An idea that seemed to infuriate the already short tempered Revell. A video was shown of Albright in a hotel room as Barry was still in the shower. During one Revell match, Barry and Albright came to the ring and kissed. With Albright now in Barry's corner, the IZW Heavyweight Title seemed to be further from Revell's grasp than ever and it showed as he lost to Barry once again on November 10th.
On November 17th, the hatred between Revell and Barry reached a fever pitch as their match ended with a Double DQ as they brawled all over and outside The Impact Arena. IZW Commissioner Mike Iles said the fed was not big enough for both Revell and Barry, so he setup a "Loser Leaves IZW Match" and stipulated that neither man could make physical contact with the other until the match. He further stipulated that since they wanted to beat the hell out of each other all over the building, he would make it a "Falls Count Anywhere Match" as well.
On December 1st, Barry was defending the title against Dexter Hardaway and Revell came to the ring and attacked Hardaway causing Barry to be disqualified. Revell was "protecting his investment" so to speak.
On December 8th, IZW Commissioner Mike Iles put Barry and Revell in a tag team match against IZW Tag Team Champions Impact, Inc. (John Zorthos & Bernie Donderwitz). The Heavyweight Champion and #1 contender could not pull off the upset as Revell simply walked away from Barry and the chance at tag team glory.
So at "Chaotic Christmas", the stage had been set. Falls would count anywhere inside or outside the building. The winner would be the IZW Heavyweight Champion. The loser would be unemployed. With IZW Commissioner Mike Iles sitting at ringside for a firsthand look, Revell was announced first amid chants of "Steroids". Barry was announced next with Marianne Albright accompanying him. The match started off as a technical bout. As frustration began to mount it turned into a brawl. Barry and Revell brawled on the floor, into the concession stand, and through the merchandise table. They used chairs, ladders, and Barry even used Commissioner Iles' shoe as a weapon. After about 30 minutes, Revell was about to deliver a chair shot to Barry, but Albright stopped him by standing in front of Barry. Revell grabbed Albright by the hair and threw her in the ring. He picked her to deliver a Spinebuster when Barry got back in the ring. Revell dropped Albright and Barry kicked Revell and set him up for his finisher, The Saturday Night Special. From behind, Albright gave Barry a low blow and Revell covered for the 3-count and thus ended the longest reign in recent Oklahoma history.
It is apparent that Revell and Albright setup Barry from the beginning. The well orchestrated arguments and attacks by Revell were very well planned. Revell was the hunter and is now the hunted. Can anyone stop him? More importantly, can Revell surpass the title reign of his predecessor and be more successful?
