NEWS
Exodus Prime and Clayton Bloodstone appeared as security guards on the October 23rd edition of “WWE Monday Night RAW” in Dallas, TX.
Fuego del Sol, a former talent in AEW, has claimed on his YouTube channel that M. J. F. made a disparaging remark about him in front of a lot of people backstage at an AEW event before Fuego signed with the promotion in 2021. "People aren't going to like me for this but if I'm honest, I'm not a fan of this guy, to be real, I'm just not. We're talking about the current AEW World Champion M. J. F. When I say I'm not a fan, I should reiterate that; I try to never let my personal opinion get in the way of someone's actual talent. He's talented as all hell. Incredible promo guy, when he does decide to wrestle he puts on incredible matches, he makes himself an attraction," Fuego said on his YouTube channel. "However, early on in AEW, even before I got signed, he gave me one weird disparaging remark in front of a lot of people backstage. It was off-handed, I'm sure he don't even remember it, I do though. Some people are gonna go out of their way to critique you or congratulate you or help you out, he stuck to himself in that regard. Never really talked to me and so I don't think we're each other's cup of tea. However, that doesn't change the fact that he's insanely talented and I will never ever let my personal opinion of someone get in the way of how good they are. He's great."
While in Memphis, TN for “AEW Collision”, Jim Ross visited Saturday morning with Jerry Lawler.
Dave Meltzer noted that originally Ric Flair had a verbal deal with AEW a while ago and he was supposed to work with the company, but they decided it wasn’t the right time. It was also noted that AEW may be trying to bring in as many stars as possible, as the company looks to renew their TV contract. “I know that he was gonna go there right when that ‘Dark Side of the Ring’ thing came out. I don’t know this but I was assuming that he was gonna go as the manager of Andrade. But he and Tony Khan had a verbal deal, and then after ‘Dark Side’ came out, it was not the right time. It’s the (TV) contract year and I think they’re really trying to hotshot as many stars for ratings purposes because of the name value and things like that, but by doing that you’re also aging the show, and nostalgia when it comes to TV ratings, is usually a short drug, not a long-term thing.”
It looks like Wednesday night's Ric Flair appearance on “Dynamite” is not going to be the only one for the Nature Boy. In a message posted on X, Flair indicated that he will be part of Sting's final few months in the company leading up to his last match at “Revolution”. "I’m ready for this journey in @AEW with my dear friend The Icon @Sting! WOOOOO," Flair wrote. Flair has been dropping hints that he wants to wrestle again despite a pay-per-view last year promoting his last match ever. That match was a disaster for all intents and purposes and admitted that he passed out during the match and it was a mistake to market it as his last one. It remains unclear what plans AEW has for Flair and if they promised him a match as well. While he attended AEW shows before and shares a good friendship with Tony Khan, Flair never appeared on AEW television before Wednesday's “Dynamite”.
Former WWE manager Jim Cornette recently spoke about Nikki Bella's comments about the company not letting them keep the Bella name after their exit. Brie and Nikki Bella became top stars in the company and won multiple championships during their lengthy tenure. Nikki recently revealed that the twins decided to pursue future projects under their legal name, "Garcia," rather than "Bella" because the WWE office never spoke with them about carrying on with their ring name. On a recent episode of “Jim Cornette's Drive Thru”, the veteran manager mentioned that the Bellas came from a generation of ladies that used the pro wrestling business to transition to reality television. "I don't know what their relationship was with the office and who they were working with, whether it was positive or negative or somewhere in between. But if their contracts were coming up and were not gonna be renewed, they're going into their new chapter that doesn't involve wrestling. Obviously, they're the generation of women that wanted to be WWE stars to go on to reality television and new chapters." Cornette felt that Nikki and Brie should have initiated the discussion with WWE officials about retaining their ring name rather than waiting for the management to come to them. "That's the conversation that the Bellas should've been having with the office. 'Hey, can we do stuff as the Bellas if you're cut in in some fashion?' and try to pitch that to them. The office didn't need to pitch to them, they needed to pitch to the office." Despite their apparent legal issues with the company over the Bella name, Nikki and Brie have been forever immortalized in the WWE Hall of Fame. The twins were announced to join the Hall of Fame Class of 2020. They received a public induction in 2021 alongside other inductees, including the nWo, Jushin “Thunder” Liger, J. B. L., and The British Bulldog. William Shatner was inducted into the celebrity wing, while Titus O'Neil got the Warrior Award.

Oklafan extends condolences to Brad Briggs on the passing of his grandmother on October 23rd.
Oklafan extends condolences to the family and friends of Tommy Revell, who passed away October 24, 2023 from brain cancer. He was 40 years old. Revell, whose real name was James Erick Johnson II, was a second-generation competitor, the step-nephew of the Elephant Boy who competed in Oklahoma in the mid-1950s and early 1960s. Revell had his first match in an impromptu way, serving as a member of SRPW Security and being thrown in with his fellow security member Weezer to face SRPW Tag Team Champions The Phantasy XXXpress (Beau Dalton & Austin Idle) on August 19, 2005 in Sapulpa, OK. While he lost that match, 2 months later, under the name Jimmy Hamon, he would win his first singles match against Dalton. He would go on to adopt the name Tommy Smash and form a partnership with Pork Chop after losing to him in a hot dog eating contest at the SRPW event in Mounds, OK on December 2, 2005. The pair, under the name Smashed Pork, defeated SRPW Tag Team Champions Beau Dalton & Bobby Dalton for the titles on February 10, 2006 in Sapulpa. They would only hold the titles for about a month, losing them back to the Daltons on March 17, 2006 in a bizarre scenario. After beating Los Diablo #2 by DQ due to Beau Dalton interfering, Beau pinned Tommy, and Diablo, who unmasked and revealed himself as Bobby Dalton, counted the pin. It was explained later in the event that the Daltons had exercised their rematch clause for the Tag Team Titles and did so as a Texas Death Match. Tommy would then go on to become the first client of Stevie Caballero and would go on to engage in feuds against former and future tag team partners of his: Pork Chop and Cpl. James Warbois. After SRPW closed on August 4, 2006, Smash was brought into the Corporate America faction and formed a tag team with Michael James in AACW which continued over to SWCW’s earliest days. Smash was involved in the 6-Way Ladder Match to crown the 1st SWCW Sooner Xtreme Champion, but that match was declared a No-Contest. Smash then continued his feud with Warbois in SWCW and had his first main event match, a Triple Threat Match against Striker and SWCW Champion Rick Garrett on May 12, 2007. Smash faced Garrett one-on-one for the title on June 2nd, but was not able to secure it. Smash made his way to the MSWA, forming a tag team with Brian Grimm (the former Cpl. James Warbois) known as The Bold & the Beautiful. They engaged in a brief feud with Tyler Bateman. But by August 5, 2007, Tommy felt it was time for a full-time identity change. November 11, 2006 saw Smash enter IZW as Thomas Rumsfeld, a member of The Cabinet, aligned with Mitch W. Baxter and Marianne Albright. Rumsfeld faced a variety of IZW stars while serving in The Cabinet, but his primary purpose was to protect the IZW Cruiserweight TItle held by Carter. Eventually, when The Cabinet broke up, Rumsfeld made his final identity reinvention and Tommy Revell entered IZW on October 13, 2007. Still aligned with Marianne Albright, he challenged IZW Champion Michael Barry for the title. For most of the rest of 2007, Revell frequently found himself across the ring from either Michael Barry or Dustin Heritage. On December 22, 2007, Revell defeated Michael Barry for the IZW title in a Falls-Count-Anywhere/Loser-Leaves-IZW Match. His title reign would last just short of 3 months and he would feud with John O’Malley and Angel Williams over the belt, ultimately losing it to Williams on March 15, 2008. During the reign, Revell would also become a member of Impact, Inc. and frequently tag with John Zorthos. Tommy took 2 months away from the ring, coming back to team with Zorthos and lose to Mitch Carter & IZW Commissioner Mike Iles in a No DQ Tag Team match when Iles pinned Revell after Gary Tool splashed him. Revell returned to IZW 2 months later to team with Michael Barry and face IZW Champion Angel Williams & Al Snow and Revell found himself on the losing end again. That was the last wrestling match that Revell participated in as he was beginning to suffer symptoms of nerve damage, losing feeling in his fingers and arm and growing very unhappy with the wrestling business as a result. Revell would make one final appearance at an MSWA event on October 18, 2009, losing an arm-wrestling match to Rick Russo, which allowed Russo to challenge Johnny Z for the MSWA Mid-South Title. Revell retired completely from in-ring competition after that, but would make one final appearance in 2014 to be inducted into the IZW Hall of Fame. In recent years, his wife, Marianne Albright, brought to light on social media that Revell had been diagnosed with brain cancer and did not have long to live. For many of us, it was almost impossible to believe. A man who once epitomized physical strength and peak condition was on limited time. And that time ended on October 24, 2023. In total, Revell appeared on 66 documented Oklahoma wrestling cards in his career.
