UWE’s “Showdown XIII” event on September 23rd set an attendance record at the Markoma Gym.
Mickie James is having another go at the Impact Knockouts World Title as she will be challenging champion Trinity at Impact Wrestling’s upcoming “Bound For Glory” pay-per-view on October 21st. James never lost the title during her last run, and had to surrender it in April because of an injury that kept her away from the ring for several weeks, missing some important events, including the “Rebellion” pay-per-view. Trinity has been champion since the “Slammiversary” pay-per-view when she beat Deonna Purrazzo. The other matches announced for “Bound For Glory” so far are Impact World Champion Alex Shelley vs. Josh Alexander, Impact X-Division Champion Chris Sabin vs. Kenta, and Will Ospreay vs. Mike Bailey.
Gail Kim will induct Traci Brooks at this year's Impact Wrestling Hall of Fame Ceremony. Kim was inducted herself as the sole member of the Class of 2016.
After both John Cena and The Rock paid tribute to Dolph Ziggler, it was two-time WWE Hall of Famer and 16-time world champion Ric Flair who used a post on X to praise Ziggler, who was released from WWE after 19 years of service. Flair called Dolph a "close friend for 20 years" and that he has been nothing less than the best professional and the best everything he has been called upon to do. "A leader, a champion, and a man of unquestionable character," Flair wrote. "I’ll never forget the letter you wrote me in the hospital." Flair said he knows Ziggler will be successful in life because that's who he is. "I look forward to our next meeting & 2 dirty Martinis with extra olives," Flair concluded.
Episode two of Scarlett and Shotzi’s “Chamber of Horrors” series is now available on WWE’s YouTube channel. Scarlett, Shotzi, and Karrion Kross “spend the night at Bobby Mackey’s Music World, the most haunted night club in America”. You can watch the episode by clicking here.
WWE's newest Superstar Jade Cargill looks like a million bucks, but is she ready for the bright lights of RAW and SmackDown? Cargill had no prior wrestling experience when she made her in-ring debut for All Elite Wrestling back in March 2021. She's come a long way since then, but was largely protected in AEW and has only wrestled 64 matches to date. Now that she's begun training at the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, FL, fans are wondering if she'll start in NXT or debut on the main roster. Everybody is talking about Jade Cargill this week, including the gang at “Busted Open Radio”. Hosts Dave LaGreca, Tommy Dreamer, and Mickie James discussed Cargill's next move on Wednesday morning, with James providing an interesting take on Cargill's best chance of success. Earlier this week, Cargill told The Ringer, "There’s Nia Jax, Charlotte Flair, Rhea Ripley, Bianca Belair. It’s not just one person, I wanna take ‘em all down. I’m here to take over and make a name for myself, so whoever wants it, they can come get it.” AEW has some talented women on their roster, but Cargill has yet to lock up with anybody remotely on the level of Becky Lynch, Charlotte Flair, Rhea Ripley or Bianca Belair. Mickie James, a 5-time WWE Women's Champion and 5-time Impact Knockouts Champion, believes Cargill would greatly benefit from going through the WWE system and enhancing her skills in NXT before she's ready to tangle with the industry's top names. "When she went into AEW, she wasn't even a wrestler, really, so think about how much she's grown," James said. "She's obviously got tons of athletic background. The fans are already familiar with her and they already love her." James believes Cargill would benefit greatly from getting 'reps' in at NXT. Learning to wrestle on TV is not the same thing as learning how to work, and wrestling on AEW TV is very different than wrestling on WWE TV. "I think it would benefit her greatly to spend some time in that system, because she has learned on TV.. she has learned on AEW TV. There are two different locker rooms, they're ran two different ways, the companies are ran two entirely different ways. It's like going from here in the US wrestling to Japan. A lot of people need to spend some time, work the dojos, all that stuff, before they just go over and become a star, because it's two different.. apples and oranges, two different things."
Ricky Starks congratulated Jade Cargill on her signing with WWE on X. Click here to view the post.
Ricky Steamboat himself has revealed that the reason he appeared on “AEW Collision” recently was a request from CM Punk to work him into Punk’s angle with Ricky Starks.
This week’s Sammy Guevara vlog, featuring Guevara’s turn on Chris Jericho, is now available for viewing by clicking here.

Oklafan extends condolences to the family and friends of Joyce Grable, who passed away September 29, 2023 after a battle with cancer. She was 70 years old. Grable, whose real name was Betty Wade-Murphy, was trained by her childhood idol Judy Grable and when she began competing, took her name partially from Judy, and partially because The Fabulous Moolah thought she resembled Joyce Fowler, who had also used the name Joyce Grable. Grable's career began in 1971 and lasted for 20 years. In that time, she won the NWA World Women's Tag Team Titles on 6 occasions: 3 with Vicki Williams and 3 with Wendi Richter, whom she helped train. She also defeated Ann Casey for the NWA United States Women's Title. As with many women wrestlers of her generation, there was no prolonged run with any company for her. Women were attractions that traveled around the country and appeared infrequently. Nonetheless, Grable established a solid reputation for herself and got consistently booked in the WWF between 1973 and 1983. Perhaps her highest profile appearance was in a 10-Woman Battle Royal at the AWA "WrestleRock '86" event, which was won by Sherri Martel. Grable retired in 1991 after having to have back surgery, but would make appearances at conventions and the occasional independent wrestling event, sometimes in a managerial role. Outside of wrestling, she worked as a receptionist at a center for mentally and physically challenged people. Grable appeared on 8 documented Oklahoma wrestling cards. The earliest match saw her team with Vicki Williams and lose to the team of Donna Christanello & Toni Rose at a TSW event in Oklahoma City on December 8, 1972. The last was a mixed tag team match that saw her team with Mike Bowyer to defeat Leilani Kai & Stan Lane at a TSW event in Tulsa on May 12, 1979.
Greg Oliver of SLAM! Wrestling wrote a story about Joyce Grable’s passing entitled “Joyce Grable dead at 70”, which you can read by clicking here.
