Back In Black! Anarchy Returns, Reforms Black Flag Brigade
Posted: Jul 19th 2023 By: CMBurnham
2022 and 2023 have not been the best years for Anarchy [2nd].
The UWE mainstay injured his arm winning the UWE Championship for the 6th time in March of last year. While he did ultimately compete with the arm injury, it was further injured during the match where he lost the title to Wesley Crane.
Anarchy then took some time off, returning at Showdown and competing in a 6-man tag team match. But what most fans will remember is his interference in the main event, costing Koko the UWE Title and helping to form The Guard with Fuel, Mr. Nasty, and The Mercenary.
The reward for that was that Fuel bequeathed the UWE Tag Team Titles (which had laid dormant for the better part of one year's time) to Anarchy and allowed him to pick his own partner. The irony of this situation is that the previous champions before Anarchy had been....The Black Flag Brigade. Anarchy and his partner Brett Irons had won the titles, but Irons had to vacate the titles due to injuries he suffered in an automobile accident that ended his in-ring career. Anarchy could pick up where he had left off with a new partner, The Mercenary.
Or so he thought. As Anarchy was one of 3 members of The Guard to fall prey to severe injuries within one year's time of The Guard's formation. The Mercenary was take out with a broken ankle. Mr. Nasty suffered injuries to his hand which put him on the shelf for a couple of months. And in a freak accident before the January UWE event, Anarchy broke his leg.
So The Guard crumbled, but Anarchy believed that the idea of a group in UWE to support him and his ideals was something that was needed. And Anarchy came out to address that need at the UWE event last week. But before he could get much further than the basic introductions, music hit and out came Seth Daniels. Daniels' interruption was met with confusion and consternation by Anarchy as well as some of the fans as these two had no history and no association in the past. And after running around the ring at break-neck speed, Daniels entered the ring and introduced himself to Anarchy. And after taking a moment to catch his breath, he asked Anarchy to sign his t-shirt. Anarchy complied and tried to dismiss Daniels, but Daniels explained that he had heard that Anarchy was looking to form a new group. This was true, as prior to Daniels' arrival, he had explained to the crowd that he was unsure if he was going to be able to compete in the ring again, given his injuries. But he still had a mind for the business and felt he still had things to offer. And Daniels appeared ready, willing and excited to join in and benefit from the knowledge that Anarchy could offer.
Before Anarchy could get a reply out, UWE newcomer The Faded Ghoul arrived. This young man has been a huge enigma for the past few months. He has randomly appeared after matches, attacking competitors for no clearly defined reason and then making his way to the back, saying nothing. And he said nothing again as he made his way to the ring to join Anarchy and Daniels. It looked as if Daniels might be the target of the Ghoul, but before he could do anything, Trench Blythe appeared in the ring. Blythe had competed earlier that night in a Triple Threat Match against BPW Lion Heart Champion El Gallardo and Tyler Midas. And although he was banged up, Blythe appeared to recognize an underdog that needed assistance in Daniels.
So the ring was now full with 4 UWE stars and Anarchy carefully took his cane, pointed it to Blythe, then Ghoul, and finally Daniels. And that appeared to send an unspoken message to Blythe and Ghoul, who proceeded to beat down Seth Daniels. After finishing their deed, Anarchy took the microphone and announced the reformation (and enlargement) of The Black Flag Brigade. And he promised that this was just the beginning.
So while the past 18 months or so have been painful and injury-laden, the future looks very bright for Anarchy. Whether he is able to return to the ring is still anyone's guess, but even if he is forced into a managerial role, he remains a presence in wrestling. And after 20 years of active in-ring competition, he can still provide guidance to whoever he takes under his wing. So while the past may have been dark, the future is back in black.
