The Final Battle Looms! Dark Forces Forced Into Win-Or-Disband Situation
Posted: Jun 8th 2023 By: CMBurnham
For almost one solid year, Dark Forces have had their claws sunk deep into WAH. Seemingly led by Nightshade, Dark Forces descended on WAH in July, 2022 as Nightshade revealed Umbra, Reese and Dr. Corvus to be members. San La Muerte was the next recruit and sometimes members Shadow Dealer and Shadow Mist also made their presence known. Pyro soon followed and the WAH titles also began to fall into the clutches of the sinister group. Reese and San LaMuerte captured the WAH Tag Team Titles. Umbra began a record-setting reign as WAH Living Hope Champion, rechristening the title as the "No Hope Championship" (editor's note: Oklafan refuses to acknowledge that as an official title). And perhaps the biggest shock of all came in December when Menace [2nd] was unmasked and revealed to be Pastor Brent. If Dark Forces were able to get to him, was there anyone they could NOT corrupt and turn to their side?
While 2022 closed with a feeling of despair hanging over WAH, 2023 has seen the light shine forth as Dark Forces have slowly but surely lost their control over the company. Pastor Brent was able to break away from Dark Forces control and shed the Menace [2nd] persona. Umbra lost the Living Hope title to Eddie LeVaughn while the Psychotic Messengers captured the WAH Tag Team Titles from San La Muerte & Reese in a thrilling Ladder Match, making Malachi & Tank Bryson Triple Crown Tag Team Champions in the state. Even the WAH Hunger Dojo Title couldn't land securely in Dark Forces hands as it bounced between Dr. Corvus and Pyro, causing dissension between those two and leading to a match where Pyro was unmasked and revealed as Karnage. Corvus ultimately lost the Hunger Dojo Title to the Lunchador, leaving the group bereft of any championships to leverage for more power.
And even the leadership of Dark Forces is in disarray. For most of the time the group was in control, it seemed as if Nightshade was firmly in control, appearing at the entrance ramp and issuing orders for the group to carry out. A massive by mysterious persona who never got physically involved, but whose presence was impossible to ignore. But in April, Nightshade began to talk about "The Master", indicating that he was NOT truly the person in control of the group, but was simply carrying out orders on behalf of someone else. And that someone else turned out to be Paul Puertorico, who upon revealing himself to be the true leadership behind Dark Forces, cast Nightshade from the group. But Puertorico has not been seen in WAH since then, seemingly leaving the group without someone to steer them in any direction.
As a result, Dark Forces have seemingly become something like a street gang and two weeks ago, they began dishing out random beatings on various members of the WAH roster. During the pre-show event, Trench Blythe faced off against the debuting Jason Simon. It was good showing for Simon as he and his "conscripted personal assistant", Tyson Jaymes, pushed Blythe to the limit. But when the match was over and Blythe had gained the victory, members of Dark Forces hit the ring and attacked Blythe, beating him down and leaving him laying as a statement of their perceived dominance. The opening match of the main show saw Killbane take on Dove Puro. Puro has experienced his greatest successes in WAH and Killbane had made his debut on the roster the previous event, so this match could be seen as a proving ground for both sides. Killbane came out victorious, but again, after the match, Dark Forces came and attacked Puro until Blythe came to the rescue. It seemed after that that things calmed down some. Reese & San La Muerte interrupted the Championship Celebration of the Psychotic Messengers and WAH Commissioner Toney Marcus Jones ordered an impromptu non-title match which saw the Dark Forces members unable to topple the new champions. Then, after intermission, Umbra received his contractually obligated rematch for the WAH Living Hope Title. Having survived a Best-of-5 Series with Eddie LeVaughn, Umbra knew many of the champion's weaknesses and put all his efforts into reclaiming that title. But no matter what Umbra did, LeVaughn refused to give up and continued to fight back. Eventually, sensing that it was not going to end the way he wanted it to, Umbra summoned the other Dark Forces members and once again a massive 4-on-1 attack occured in the ring until Blythe and Puro, this time accompanied by Pastor Brent, drove off the evil group.
WAH Commissioner Toney Marcus Jones announced on social media this past week that the 4 members of Dark Forces (Dr. Corvus, San La Muerte, Reese & Umbra) would face off against Pastor Brent, Eddie LeVaughn, Trench Blythe and Dove Puro at the June 24th event in a War-Games Style elimination Match. And leading up to that, at the June 10th event, all 4 members from both sides will face off in 1-on-1 matches. Whichever sides team comes away with the most victories in the singles matches will have the advantage on the 24th. If Dark Forces wins, they gain COMPLETE control over WAH. But if they lose, they will be forced to disband forever. This is clearly Dark Forces' final opportunity to turn things around in WAH. They're a desperate group of people. And desperate people do desperate things. All the WAH fans can do now is hope for the best and pray. Because if Dark Forces gain control of the company, it could very well be the end of the WAH as Oklahoma understands it.
