Fourth St Theater In Tuttle hosting Red Dirt Wrestling

Editor's Note: Brandon Bulmer is the real name of Drake Gallows

Red Dirt Wrestling will host a show Saturday June 10 at Fourth Street Theater, located at 101 Southwest Fourth Street in Tuttle. Promoter Brandon Bulmer spoke Friday, May 19 on how Red Dirt Wrestling chose Fourth Street Theater for a venue. "Last year, they had a walk-through haunted house thing for small kids," Bulmer said. "It wasn't very scary, but it was cute. I've got a two year old son who just loved it, and I knew it was a small business, and I just was like, man, this place would be perfect for a wrestling show."

Patrons of the show can expect a solid presentation from an experienced organization. Bulmer is a 15-year veteran in the professional wrestling industry and has been a promoter for nine years.

"We typically do shows in places like Midwest City, and we do them in Oklahoma City," Bulmer said. "I have a regular spot on 44th Street at the New Beginnings Church where we do shows in the gymnasium. We have a pretty good relationship with Bridge Creek Middle School where we do an end-of-the-year event for the kids that are well-behaved, before they get on the buses to go home for summer. We actually just did an event on Wednesday. There's like 700 students in the gym and they got to watch wrestling before they went home. It was pretty cool."

The RDW theme is almost always a family-friendly one, and certainly will be at Fourth Street Theater.

"We actually do family -friendly content exclusively. Kids six and under get in free, because we want it to be something that they can bring all the kids to. We want it to be one of those shows were everybody feels welcome, and it's crazy because the most enthusiastic fans that we have are either two to three years old, or they're in their late seventies, so everybody likes it. Pro wrestling is just fun and relatable, even thought it's like watching a cartoon in real life, because it's very, very unrealistic and most people walk away thinking that it's bogus anyway, but they get a little bit of time to suspend disbelief, and they just get to cheer the good guys and boo the bad guys. It's a lot more fun than a movie theater where you're expected to be quiet. You get a live performance and you get to be rowdy and loud and interact with the people it's a ton of fun. It is theater and, and I tell people that all the time. It's not just about doing wrestling moves or punching each other. It's about trying to be entertaining. If your job is to go out there and make the kids laugh, that's what you have to do. You have to be funny. And if your job is to go out there and make them cry, you have to be mean. It's actually not always fun to be the good guy, which is the weird part, because sometimes being the bad guy is a lot more entertaining."

Bulmer said he's interested in bringing more shows to the area in the future.

"We're really, really interested in becoming part of the community," Bulmer said. "We want to do things for the community. We've done a lot of stuff in the Oklahoma City area, but we definitely want to move a little closer to the Tuttle, Newcastle, or Mustang area. I was born and raised in Newcastle and I would love to bring wrestling to that area, and get to show people that this stuff is very, very, very entertaining and it's a lot of fun and you get to enjoy it with your family for a few hours, get away from all the nonsense of life and you get to forget about everything for a little while."
