NEWS
Fresh off his surprise appearance at "Backlash", Savio Vega, explained to "Cultaholic Wrestling" how the whole thing came about. The former leader of Los Boricuas said that WWE got in touch with him on the insistence of both Damian Priest and Bad Bunny, who wanted him to be a small part of their Street Fight Match. Vega said that when he went to The Undertaker farewell at the "Survivor Series", he went to take a photo with Priest but Priest was the one who insisted to take a photo with him, as he was a big fan. "We don't talk too much but we keep in touch by phone. This idea was them, more Damian Priest," Vega told "Cultaholic". Vega also said that it was Finn Balor who told him to use the moves he used when he portrayed the gimmick of Kwang as Balor was a fan of it when he was younger. He added that he was in absolute shock to hear the reaction that the Puerto Rico crowd gave him when he showed up both backstage and during the match. Both Vega and Carlito blew the roof off the place when they came out, with their appearances being one of the highlights of the Street Fight between Bad Bunny and Damian Priest.

Speaking to Sportskeeda Wrestling’s "UnSKripted" podcast, Savio Vega revealed that Bad Bunny’s next match may be at "SummerSlam".

Carlito's return at WWE's "Backlash" on May 6th was one of the many highlights the show had over its three-hour runtime. In fact, among all the videos that WWE uploaded on social media from the event, Carlito blowing the roof off the Coliseo has proven to be the most popular. How popular? In 13 hours, it racked up 1 million views on YouTube, 1.3 million views on Twitter, and an additional 1.6 million views on TikTok. And that is without counting the views on Facebook and Instagram. The only other videos that come close to it are Bad Bunny's intro at 1.3 million views on TikTok and Savio Vega beating Finn Balor with 1.1 million views on TikTok as well. On YouTube, the full Backlash highlights are the closest one with 660,000 views.

Following his cameo at WWE's "Backlash", Carlito tweeted “Well….looks like my Indy booking price just went up!!”

A. J. Styles will be taking on Seth Rollins for the WWE World Heavyweight title at "Night of Champions" after the former WWE Champion defeated Bobby Lashley in the main event of "SmackDown" on Friday night. In his first match, Styles beat Edge and Rey Mysterio in the triple threat match and that was followed by Lashley beating Sheamus and Austin Theory in the second triple threat match. Lashley was busted open in his match and bled heavily on his way to the win. The main event then featured Styles and Lashley, with Styles winning the match with his Phenomenal Forearm. Styles has just returned from a four-month layoff having broke his ankle in late December. The WWE World Heavyweight title is a "RAW" property so if Styles wins he will be moved to the red brand.

A, J. Styles, Michin, and Shotzi appeared on WWE’s "The Bump" on Wednesday. You can watch the show by clicking here.

Among the matches that WWE’s YouTube channel uploaded this past week was A. J. Styles vs. Cedric Alexander for the United States Title from the "Clash of Champions 2019" pre-show.

While speaking to The Wrestling Outlaws, current NWA National Heavyweight Champion EC3 reveals that he reached out to AEW President Tony Khan around the time of CM Punk’s backstage altercation with The Elite. He said "I emailed Tony. Not at all with the intent to get a job, that’s how I led off the email. It was when all the initial Punk and Young Bucks and all that thing went off. Just 'cause I thought he might be a guy who lacked anybody that would just… he doesn’t have a close relationship with to tell him something. It was just an inspirational, leadership message, because in theory, I do believe we need as much competition as possible for the sanctity of the industry. So I sent a hopefully inspirational message on leadership and what it takes. I’ve never heard anything back."

KVUE talked to Ricky Starks ahead of AEW’s return to Austin, TX on May 17th. You can see the clip by clicking here.

This past week, Mickie James tweeted "I can only Imagine where I would be today in this crazy world of pro-wrestling if I hadn’t listened to the veterans who coached & guided me. If I had told them their opinion wasn’t relevant. Just because it wasn’t what I wanted to hear but was what I needed to hear."
