Bad Blood Spills Over In Battle For UWF06 Title

Bad Blood Spills Over In Battle For UWF06 Title

Posted: Dec 4th 2007 By: CMBurnham

Although it doesn't seem like it, UWF06 Champion Shane Rawls & "Ky-Ote" Joe Herell have been battling each other for titles during much of 2007. This past Saturday simply marked the next step in the conflict between these 2 men, one that promises to turn into a bloody mess for at least 1 man before the end of the year.

At the beginning of the show, Rawls was announced to be facing Herell for the title. But Rawls made a preemptive strike before the show began, attacking him backstage and rendering him unable to compete during the main event.

That attack didn't prevent Herell from making a surprise return at the end of the show, though. Joe came through the crowd while Rawls was addressing the crowd at the end of the show and blindsided the champion in an act of revenge. After much struggle, the 2 men were seperated and a match was announced. Shane Rawls would defend his UWF06 Title against Joe Herell...in a First Blood Match!!

Herell and Rawls are no strangers to each other in championship situations. Rawls was one of Herell's opponents, along with Javi Hernandez and Dane Griffin, in the Fatal 4-Way match to crown the 1st UWF06 Violent Division Champion in April. 2 months later, Rawls picked up a non-title victory over Herell. But when the title was on the line on July 14, Herrell was able to even things out with a hard-fought win. Then, when Jerry Bostic put the UWF06 Title on the line in a Ladder Match on October 27, his 2 opponents were....Joe Herell and Shane Rawls. Rawls pulled off what some would consider an upset and has held tight to that belt ever since, but come December 15, "The Brawler" will have to live up to his name against a man who will put his body on the line to win his first Heavyweight Championship.

Rawls and Herell are set to face each other at the GCPW event Friday. And both men are mainstays of MSWA, although they've only faced each other once there, the day after Rawls won the UWF06 title. Rawls came out victorious then. But no matter who wins the match December 15, it seems like multiple federations in the state may have to stock up on bandages and cleaner after these two finish with each other in the ring.
